Yea, we will see. I’m optimistic, but that’s just how I am. For what I do, mostly hiphop, the factory samples work (other than brass and needing more gtr), but I’d love some new stuff. Brass, guitar and keys are what I’d like most.

I Have and Love my Quantum...

I am still waiting for my Prophet X...but even from demos, i don't think they sound even remotely alike...

There are many people asking "Quantum or Prophet X" style questions in Forums and FB. I think specially due to they being Hybrids...and being able to use Samples. And they came out almost at the same time...

I understand the question...but to me...even from the 1st demos i saw...i almost though that although they share some features...the sound , at least from YT is way way different.

I see the Prophet X as being a more Bread and Butter "Musical"/ Warm Pleasant kinda Synth, capable of doing some really "weird" and unusual stuff ...and the Quantum as a HiFi ish Futuristic sounding Synth capable of doing some really Experimental and also Harsh stuff , capable of doing some really "normal" stuff

Yeah...i can see why someone would not like the Quantum. And i can see (even if i haven't received it yet) ....why someone would not like a Prophet X

I Sold a Montage because i didn't quiete liked he UI and Workflow.

I don't have a lot of space, and these 2 will probably cover much of "everything" (i also have a MPC Live). Even though none of those are pure Analog.

Maybe...not the area of a Dedicated Bass Mono like a Moog or a Pro3 ... and more Polyphony - EDM / Commercial Stuff like a proper Rompler Workstation or a Wavestate...

Funny, I know the Prophet-X is something special, but I haven't really connected with mine yet, and I just don't play it that much (perhaps that's part of the problem). Also, maybe I just suck at patch-creation, because that's where the instrument really shines.

Then again, I also disliked my Montage soon after buying it and wanted to dump it. But, now I really like it for what it offers and enjoy playing it often, despite its hard-to-use UI (which I do find quite frustrating). Plus, I just sold my Montage 7 about an hour ago for the same price as my new white Montage 6 which I think plays and looks gorgeous.

Without having yet the Prophet X...i expect it to be more oriented to Sound Design and Tweaking ...than the Montage wich i see as a much more Perfomance Workstation Instrument with huge Presets and Controls/Knob oriented for Live Perfomance. Sound creation and design on a Montage is done mostly via the Touchscreen. It is insanely powerful too...but not Imediate (unless all you want to Play and use Presets)

There are actually a ton of noise samples in what comes with the Prophet X, they're just not immediately obvious. What at first glance seems to be a single instrument will often turn out to be a sizable collection of different samples of different keys, with the intent of using the "stretch" operation to pick one and spread it across the keyboard (turning off pitch tracking if you want to use it strictly as a fixed noise source.)

When I went digging, I found that the Prophet X had more variety in noise types than any other synth-focused instrument I was used to.

I was joking as a response to the need for more Bread and butter Packs and less Synth samples pack.

I would expect to not being a huge demand or market for Noise samples

Anyone is "looking" at the PRO3 ? Does a Prophet X by itself (or with the factory Samples) remotely capable of getting in the region of some of the more Nasty /Fat stuff of some of the demos ?
The ProphetX demos i saw seem to place it in a more "Pleasant" sound area.

I think the Pro 3 is its own thing with its three different filters. I think it would be a highly complementary addition to a Prophet-X. It's the only new synth that I'm seriously considering right now. I think it's the ultimate mono/sequencer and would complement likely just about any set-up as its foundation.

Yes ... my apologies “analog modeled “ i am sure you know better than me. And I agree the quantum can sound icy but I thought it pulled off some very smooth analog sounds maybe smooth was a better word but I thought the presence and weight of those deserved the word thick ... maybe even creamy. Lacking the hands on I wouldn’t know but having a huge pallet of the quantum’s tones to play with in granular iPad apps , omnisphere and my prophet sounds a lot cooler to me than spending thousands on a synth I don’t have space or money for.

Seems pretty "wild" on what it does. Obviously can't do so much as a Prophet x, Quantum or Montage...

But sounds pretty good in some Demos. But maybe wouldn't be my 1st choice for standard Mono Bass / Bread and Butter ...seems Overkill and expensive for that.

The Prophet X can get delightfully ugly, but as seems to be traditional with Sequential, it has its own unique character. I wouldn't expect it to be a substitute for a Pro-3 but rather an instrument with its own wide range of possibilities. Between filter drive, filter and amplitude modulation, and ring modulation as an effect you can easily give clean samples and edge - and of course there's no reason why you have to start with something clean! You won't find the tuned feedback or analog distortion, but I've had a blast with external processing to complement the facilities built in. I've found the guitar-centric Helix to be an excellent companion.

The Elektron Analog Heat 2 also seems interesting ??? ...although expensive...

My Doubt about the Prophet X nastiness is more about it's Low end Fatness / Bass distorted kinda stuff in wich the Pro3 seems pretty good.

An analog monosynth is almost always going to be fatter than a polysynth. I don't think there is any crossover at all between Pro3 and Prophet X from what I've heard.

I didn't even know people had Pro3's yet! I'm going to skip it personally. No space for another mono. If I didn't a pretty significant Eurorack and 5U modular, nor a small arsenal of great analog monos, and a Pro2, it would probably be right up my street.

The Prophet X is the most interesting synth I've had in the last 20 years. Nothing else comes close to the sounds I've been able to get out of the PX, it's really unique.

I rebooted it about 10x out of frustration and it finally worked, weird. My unit seems super flaky though, esp when it comes to adding sample packs. Some usb drives don't work, some simply stay on the formatted screen indefinitely others format instantaneous and don't actually format. I have tried 4 different drives/sd sticks.

Yeah I got it yesterday. I love monos with great sequencers. It can really riff and sound alive. The PX I am sure you get awesome results but I have so many things for PADs, and just don’t feel like tweaking the X most days. I have heard some great sounds for sho.

Strangely enough, my Prophet X doesn't get a lot of pad use. I use it a lot for keys sounds, fx, bass etc.

I'm in love with the filter chip on the PX. So much so I'm going to get the Udo Super 6 just to have more voices with it (and a different flavour at the front end).

Surprised the SSI chip hasn't been installed in more releases than these two (unless I'm missing something).

its great for when you make an awesome pad sound on a different synth, press the unison button and it sounds even better, but now you only have a monophonic synth
