Much better and informative main screen..means no need to have laptop open to do most editing and writing now. Buttons more recessed so dont interfere with pad bashing

one advantage would be a more detailed clip editor. right now there isn't too much you can do to the clip besides start/lop points. would be great to be able to set things up in detail. looks good to me. maybe they can implement a feature where you can use two push controllers at the same time. either way. TAKE MY MONEY

Well, on the official Ableton store site it says Push is out of stock, so…

hopefully we don't have to wait until NAMM to have them show it off and another couple of months to buy it. though Ableton usually release new versions around January-February

those guys say it might come with audio I/O. I hope akai are not the ones making that as their soundcards usually have crap latency. but damn, 800$ ...do i really need this or or a Nyborg?

Yep, built-in audio interface and $799.

It's annoying considering it's less than 12 months since I bought my Push.

However Native Instruments did the same kind of thing with Maschine.

Dunno seems more like Push Pro so they have the original push and this upgraded version, hitting 2 price points.

Yeah it really doesn't seem like a push sequel, just some addons. Don't see why anyone would get upset about it, if it's twice what I paid for my Push.

tbh, the only thing i am missing on push is related to Live's swing engine and especially the implementation on push. i don't get why it's so hard to find something that can control swing in real time (without having to prepare beforehand groove templates and adjusting the groove percentage etc). simple. easy. like on a roland box. or a korg box. or any decent groove box. not even some decent bugfree m4l patch. i tried time and timbre but not really gelling with the interface so it never gets used.

Funny, I had plans to buy a used Push with the last paycheck I got, and saw a post on Reddit about this right before. The cost of this new version is too high IMHO, and I'd rather not be paying extra for an audio interface...but it looks like this may actually be able to do more with audio than the first version. If it's designed to work with arrangement view as well, it might be worth picking up.

I am building a new live rig for a future project. It might make sense if it has at least 4 outputs plus headphones and midi plugs. And again, they should make two units work together without one switching focus everytime you select something else.

The empty Ableton online shop may hint at this being a successor. Some retailers also lowered the prices of the Push controller. So something new might indeed be coming.

It's definitely coming. A friend who owns a music store told me not to buy the old one, he had seen it and it was due in November. His description of it to me matches that blurry photo..

I never had a problem with having my laptop open. My laptop has a nice HD 14" screen. IMO it's going to be difficult for someone to put a better screen on a hardware controller.

As long as I don't need to touch the keyboard or mouse, my needs are met.

I can understand being upset if you bought Push recently with a new one on the way shortly (if it's true). But, Push is a FANTASTIC controller. Unless Live 10 comes out and Push does not take advantage of things in Live 10 like Push 2 can, I don't see the need to be upset. Plus, they are at different price points.

BUT, I reserve my final opinion until I see a feature list on Push 2. Who knows? There could be something really intuitive and cool in it.

Agreed. If it's indeed going to be $799 it's in a different price category. I personally wouldn't care for an editor screen or detail view in the controller and I certainly don't need another audio interface.

Personally, i have no interest in a midi controller with a built in audio interface. IMO, there isn't a need for a new controller, as there is a lot more utilisation that could be added to the old controller.

I'm just hoping that with the launch of a new controller, they add a whole bunch of new functionality, which will also be available with the old version of Push. Full access to Lives browser for a start (third party plugins, templates, projects and tracks, audio files etc etc) and some sort of meaningful functionality when in arrangement mode too would be welcomed.

they say its coming in november...who knows......i think thats just a really difficult thing....because so many people have push1 and it was the first one......i dont think they would have a soudncard in it that doesnt sound right....the reason you can see the waveform on it is because its showing the sampler screen prolly.......showing a sample that is being played with midi.
yea i think it would be a big firmware update because the actual push contoller itself i dont think there is a lot you should change abou tit......maybe...like they are coming out with a new one.....more for profit purposes than for the utility.......because all the people who already own push1 what would be the insentive to sell it and get the push2 and then there would be no resale value anyway.....

Abes/Akai are due a Mk II so this would not surprise me. That rumoured price point dose look a little mental. Why bother with the audio interface? Do Akai have a whole load of spare parts that they are just trying to work through or something? Converting to sterling, we're talking at least £500 - likely £600 for this. That seems steep to me unless the screen can do some Maschine Studio sort of wizardly shenanigans that really does pull you away from the screen 99% of the time.

push was never a budget device. so i am sure that the new version will not render the first one obsolete. but a firmware will probably be released. i am part of the beta program for Live but nothing huge was released as public beta until now so a version 10 is probably not going to happen too soon.

I own Push, early adopter. I'm in two minds and really interested to hear more. I don't need another audio interface, so inclusion would be pointless for me. Larger display would be good but I have a 21.5" colour one behind Push, and I can "chop some beats" should I ever get the urge pretty well with a mouse and keyboard. I'm not sure it would be that amazing to do so on a monochrome screen and knobs.
I can't see that much different apart from that, so the choice on whether to switch is hopefully easy.
Add to this that I don't use Push to its full potential anyway. It's knobs with display underneath are my favourite feature by far, makes tweaking certain instruments and effects effortless. I'd buy an 8x8 grid of knobs and buttons in a heartbeat.
