Push 3 really shines if you already own Live Suite, I don't know how great I would think it is if I did not? You can get by, but it's all about Suite here.

Yep. Sent it back when I got it but bought another a few months ago and it’s been great. It’s all about desk space and where I place and then using session view a lot more to start tracks. That opens it up a lot. Having Suite is a huge boost too. Tons of sequencers and apps with push integrations there.

Any idea a rough run of how many of default sounds and wavs, are they in the 100s or 1000s amount?

Has anyone found a screen protector for the Push 3? Not really worried about the damaging the screen itself but would be interested in something anti-glare to tame the reflections I'm getting from nearby computer monitors.

if you have live suite you can download free expansion packs from ableton and gets 10s of thousands of sounds. without the expansion packs there are still thousands.

Mono One is looking really good and it's for Push standalone.

Apparently, the same developer is working on a Juno-6 device as well.

The Ableton Live user base is interesting, as we often see 50/50 on the Arrangement View or Session View.

I find it a bit sad, that Ableton dont take the full potential and add Arrangement View support or is the hardware too weak for this? (Right now i can freeze my tracks and Import them to my Akai Mpc live for their Arrangement View)

i mean one can copy scenes or move them around, and with follow action it's basically a vertical arrangement. with even some more creative options. you can't export an arrangement though. as in a finsihed stereo track. or maybe with a resample track? haven't tried it though as that's not how i use push nor live

You could convert a full arrangement to Clip Session with a bit extra work, but I think for a 1000+ € device both Environments should have been supported already.

I don’t think it’s about the hardware. It’s about logistics. How would they represent the arranger on the Push in an easy and intuitive way? The MPC and Force can do it because of the big touch screen. Maschine can do it because it’s mostly pattern based and the group structure makes it easy to manage.

I’d say with the way Ableton is now, doing the arranger on Push would be an exercise in frustration to most users. It’s already pretty frustrating dealing with all the nested groups in drum racks when all I want to do is change the decay on a snare or something. I can’t imagine what a full session arrangement would look like. Lots of scrolling and faffing about with the scroll wheel or arrow keys for sure.

So imo the reason it’s not there is because they haven’t quite figured out how to do it intuitively yet.

I understand, I guess I just have to wait for the Push 4 then. The Push 3 seems like a hit and miss product, as part of the transition to a better product.

Its far more likely that Ableton want to get at least 10 years out of this hardware, which is why they went for a modular approach to the CPU etc in the standalone version.

I don't think the issue is the hardware. So I'm not sure Push 4 would "fix" anything. It's just about figuring out how to best use that hardware to achieve what they want. Right now imo the biggest issue with PUSH (other than stiffer buttons and a slippery main knobs) is the software. It's just not built for a good groove box experience imo. The Move in contrast is a better experience because it was built from the ground up to be fast and accessible. Push has full Ableton to deal with and all that entails.

Maschine and MPC were built with the controller or standalone experience in mind. They were designed from the ground up that way. Push was designed the other way. It's trying to shoehorn a full desktop software experience into a groove box experience and that's probably proving to be quite difficult for Ableton.
