XLR patch bay directly over power amp, yay or nay?
Are there best practices in XLR patch bay placement in a home studio rack?
I have an old power amp in the lowest two spaces. I'd like to place the patch bay directly above the amp. Does an amp generate magnetic interference that should be avoided? If so, what is a safe distance? Any differences with the amp being on or off?
I have the option of placing the patch bay wherever it needs to be in the rack. With the mics being in the control room, I think that having the patch points closer to the ground would be less cluttered and practical. That is, the mic cables won't be draping down in front of other gear in the rack.
