SDIF-2 cabling question

I recently got an Otari UFC-24 with SDIF-2 I/O. I need to come out of my PCM-1630 via SDIF-2 (XLR) to go into this box, which has a DB50 d-sub input.

It's overkill, obviously, but it's the only SDIF converter I've found anywhere in the last 3 years.

In short, what’s the best way to take one XLR line to go into a DB50 input?

Is there a special cable or snake for this (XLR-F to DB-50-M)? Is there a DB25 to DB50 adapter? Or should I basically build one out of a 50-pin d-sub connector and a bit of cabling?

It's been decades, but the only SDIF-2 interface I remember uses BNC connectors, one for each channel, and another for sync. The old Sony PCM-2500 had them (along with AES and SPDIF), but I don't recall seeing it on anything newer from Sony (I haven't used the PCM-1600 series).

I used the RME ADI-192DD for this kind of converter jobs. Also known as the RME-TDIF2

Hmm have not seen any SDIF-2 stuff on any RME boxes ever.

Are you confusing it with SPDIF?

For OP get a 50 pin connector with screw terminals if not sure of wiring and then play "battleships". Will take about 1/2 hour.

One thing missing is clock which is part of SDIF-2. Not sure how that's getting out of the Sony?

In fact I cant remember XLR Digital outs on the PCM, I though they were analogue? SDIF-2 was BNC, no?

Yes, that RME unit is SPDIF. Won't work here.

The clock isn't a problem as there are separate BNC inputs for that on the UFC-24.

But you are correct that it's also BNC for the digital stream. I did see a digital out on one of the XLR outs, but now I think that's the AES out. Perfect if I could find an AES card for the 1630, but that's like hitting the lottery.

So now it's really BNC outs to a 50-pin input.
