I posted this mix just after I'd "finished" it and that was a bad thing because yes indeed when I opened it this morning, I found many faults with it.
However, with all due respect to the original work, I think the original mix is too dark, even though it's very much in keeping with the artistic direction....
I really wanted to bring much more clarity, much more detail and transients to the mix to give it more lightness.
I totally understand the Woody feel you particularly appreciate in the original mix.
The piano brings at least 50% of the transience and brilliance to the mix, allowing it to breathe. By the way, I've done very little EQ on most of the tracks (there must be a total of 10 EQ points at most on the 15 tracks, and they're very light)
In fact, when I opened the mix this morning I found that the conga was particularly loud, so I turned it down by 10dB
The saxophone was also far too loud, even though I liked the solo, it's true that it was too loud, so I turned it down by 6dB.
As for the bass, I wanted to keep it very light, but I raised it very slightly.
the end vocal is way too loud, you're right so I lowered it too.
