I'm still using 6.5. I remember a former version having a grayed out wave in the automation track. I kind of liked that and was wondering if this still existed in 6.5 or higher. I haven't been able to find it if it does exist.
Yes, It inside the Automation Panel (The floating window), in the down left corner there's an engine symbol, click it to see the Automation Preferences and check 'Show Data On Tracks'.
