Cubase is not displaying scroll bars at the bottom of mixconsole, and in general the mixconsole display gets cut off.

Quitting/restarting and window resizing does not fix the problem. See attached screenshot.



furthermore, window resizing sometimes causes "giant fader syndrome" where the faders start stretching and just keep going with no user intervention.

Don't know if that also applies to Mac, but iirc on Win such symptoms were caused by a faulty installer (isn't there always with Steinberg ? ) somewhere during the 7.x lifecycle, not updating all critical files correctly.
The acid test would be a clean 7.5 install (to the identical location as before !), then update to 7.5.20.
The procedure (again in Win terms) :
Rename/move both Steinberg folders, the "program files" one and the "app data" one, temporarily. Fresh install. If the issue is fixed, you can selectively restore your current preferences and files one at a time, it's fairly safe to assume e.g. key commands or drum maps are not related to the issue, so it shouldn't take too long until you're back to normal.
Doing a binary folder compare immediately after the" fresh install & 7.5.20" might show up the culprit directly ...
You can always revert back to your current state in seconds by deleting the fresh installed folders and moving back / re-renaming your old ones, so what have you got to lose ?

The stuff you described is not normal afaics.
Mixer channels resetting to full "Kermit" width however are there to stay until a conplete rewrite of the program, as admitted by Steinberg here : https://gearspace.com/board/cubase-7...tml#p10120490l
There are reasons why many of us have shelved C7.x and are still working with 6.5, this is merely one among a multitude.

C7.x is shelved for good in my studio, and will never be my main DAW. Still on C6.5 and N5.5.
I have wasted enough time on this major versions, and will wait for C8/N7 deciding my options (the way onward from here).

well that's not very encouraging

I have this issue when I switch from my 4k monitor at work to my regular monitor at home. Just click somewhere on the mixer (to focus the mixer) and hit the G or H zoom keys, problem solved

Thanks - this doesn't seem to work as far as getting the bottom of the window back (still no scroll bars etc)

Have you tried toggling on and off the in-mixer control room.

"Reset Mixer" in the upper right corner if the mix console window,
the little triangle pull down.
When I open projects started in Nuendo 5.5 I usually have to reset
the mixer to get it looking and acting properly.

Thx rotundness i will try that as this happens to me once in a while. Maybe it is when changing from 5.5 to 6.07

Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately nothing works.. still no scroll bar in the mixer!

Had no response at the Steiny forums and no way to contact their support since they refer me to my local distributer, who really is a just a reseller with no technical know-how.

You should mention how unhelpful your distributor has been over there....although I think it's fairly standard that all they do is contact Steinberg and have to wait for a response themselves if they don''t have an answer.

Did they say they would do this at least??

I have no GUI problems with the marvelous Mix Console.
I'm glad that we no longer have the old mixer, sorry guys....



Here´s a guide to fix this, hope this will help:

Hold down the ALT key

- Now with addition hold down the Left mouse button in the "Functions menu" (triangle in the upper frame of the Mixconsole)

"Reset MixConsole Window", select.

[The function described above can also be applied to the Channel Edit window, the option is called then in the Functions menu: "Reset Channel Settings Window"]



If the problem does not yet have been fixed:

This is due to not properly initialized Skin.srf file in Cubase 7 program folder.

- De-install Cubase 7 with Windows Remove Programs tool (only Cubase 7!)

- Now install Cubase 7.x and updates

This guide should also be applied when it comes to other display problems with the new Mixconsole.

My experience with C7/7.5 has nothing to do with stability. Seem stable here among three DAW's (win7 and win8).

I have also gotten rid of most of these strange Mixer GUI problems (fresh installs - completely new prefs to start with).

I just happen to dislike the new mixer, due to all clicking and hovering necesarry to get valuable info.

It's a nightmare to just be able to see much of needed info, hovering and clicking one track at a time.
With the C6.5 mixer you could pretty much get all of the same info across all channels in on go/at a glance.
When working with med big to big mixes (average 80 plus tracks + 30 group/FX tracks), the new way is a nightmare.

I am just curious on what kind of work those who like the new Mix Console do?
How many tracks/channels on avarage?
Doing your own work, mixing along as the project goes?
Doing mostly composing, editing or midi?

Don't mean to bash anyone, but are curious

When working on, what I call traditional music producing (full band tracking etc.... and trad mixing post all recording/importing tracks prior to mixing), the new Mix Console just don't act as a "real" desk no more (have to look hard for info, click and hover to see what/where/status).

And don't let me get started on the new Control Room (I HATE it) when it comes to "full band tracking/recording" scenarios. Clike-ty-click-ty-click

Besides the glitches with the mixconsole I much prefer the v7 mixer (when it's working)

Have also found 7.5 to be pretty stable except for the video engine becoming unresponsive occasionally and some Slate plugins not playing nicely.

Glad it worked out for you. Still deciding if I should go to 7.5........

What exactly does the "Alt" button do in this scenario compared to
resetting without the Alt button?

Without the Alt key there is no option to reset the MC as such....only Reset Channels which sets all settings to default.

With Alt key pressed there is the option Reset Mix Window which resets the graphics and closes the mixer without affecting any mix settings.

On opening the rack heights and fader height/widths will need adjustment to your preference.
