Ok let me explain what I have going on. I have a Roland sp404mk2 with 16 pads. Each pad contains a full song, the songs have different tempos.

Is there a lighting rig that I can create that I can control with a midi controller that also has 16 pads that I can assign different lighting scenes and then I can just manually fire off scenes while I am firing off the full songs on the 404 that I can have the scenes match the bpm of the 404?

Now sadly the 404 does NOT send out midi clock from its pads.

SO I am trying to figure out if I can do this with some software

I did this a few years back, but never used it live as it was too much of a hassle to set up.

Midi pad controller -> old Mac -> LightKey software -> USB to DMX dongle -> light strings

I used an 8x8 cheapo pad controller, giving me 64 presets. I also was feeding bass drum to detect audio sync.

LightKey will individually address your DMX fixtures to create just about anything you can imagine. It was fun, but not practical for me.

Yeah today I actually got Flstudio to do what I need. Although not a different set of automation on 16 pads but rather using the playhead with markers that pause the song at the start of each song. I also have an automation clip that runs along the 16 songs and adjusts the tempo. So now I can fire off the sound on the 404 pads and then at the same time hit the space bar on the laptop to start the lights and video. Now I am waiting the usb dongle to arrive and I picked up a deal locally for a brand new DMX lazer light. So by next weekend I will be experimenting with the lights

Yes, thing is sweet. I have been checking it out. But while I was in my quest for lighting, I discovered Reaper and Freesyler. Just cheaper option for my first show. But that thing is definitely on my wishlist

Nah that Wolfmix is the bomb. And actually for this first show , I want the computer to handle the lights but for future shows that wolfmix is in my sights
