Anyone tried the Chauvet ILS system?
I'm looking at the relatively new Chauvet ILS system and having some trouble answering some basic questions. I run indoor and outdoor stages for a local brewery. Pretty basic sound and lighting. I started out with the old Chauvet 4Bar about 15 years ago, using the foot switch for most of the control. I had an Obey controller but found it really clunky to use and cheap-feeling.
The DMX learning curve is also intimidating.
The last couple of years, I've been using Chauvet Bluetooth pars on a truss for the indoor stage. The BT Air control app is promising for simple stuff but has been erratic lately. The fades and rainbows will suddenly stop responding, leaving me with just a fixed color. I've uninstalled and reinstalled a few times with some success, but I'm tired with the unpredictability.
I stumbled across the ILS system last week. There's a $300 standalone hardware controller and a variety of fixtures and system bars designed to work with it over D-Fi connections.
What I'm trying to determine is whether the controller can separately manage, say, four compatible par fixtures. In other words, can I have fixture 1 in one color/mode and fixtures 2, 3, and 4 doing different things?
Obviously, not looking for full-blown, sophisticated pro theater stuff, just some creative flexibility in prosumer gear. I am aware of a certain amount of disdain for Chauvet as being cheaply made with some quality control issues, but I've had good luck with their products so far .
Just wondering if anyone has really given this control system a good road test.
