Is there any decent way to use an existing installed so to say truss that has stage pin pigtails already in it, to power LED pars and ellipsoidals? The school I'm working with has a 96 channel dimmer system ran by some old strand equipment, and power distribution is already put in place but they're ran off the strand dimmer. Running leds off these dimmers is not only annoying, but also bad for the lights as its not a true sine dimmer. Could I use the existing stage pin runs and just connect them to a line voltage breaker as a source for newly installed pars? Or would it be smarter to ditch the whole rail system and just run a few 20 amp circuits up to the catwalk and above stage. Thanks
That tech is very antique, so making it all work would be a labor of love, not to mention unreliable, etc.
Best to work towards modern lights with a modern control system, e.g. LED pars, wireless DMX, etc.
