For use with my pub 60s band, a set of 4 12x12w RGBW PARs cost
buttons from Aliexpress (just under UKP 80) hit the right balance of price/performance.
Stick them on the floor, two set to colour fade at different rates, each connecting to another slave, and we're done. Nothing dynamic, nothing synced to the music, but 100% easy. Just plug in at the start of a set, and unplug at the end. Better lighting than most other pub bands I see, but as cheap as chips.
Yes, they're plastic, they're no way 12w emitters, but they're f*** bright. Slightly noisy fans, but completely inaudible in any pub. I like the fact that they have IEC & DMX in/out, all of which can be used with them laid flat on their back. Who knows how long they'll last, but they owe me nothing.
