"I'm always curious about noise floor on people's monitoring setups, just because I've worked hard in the past to get mine dead quiet. probably just an OCD thing.\n\nI had the spl monitor thingy and I could crank that puppy all the way up and it would be super quiet. I now have an x-desk with the same monitors and patch bays and when I crank her to 11 (yes, it goes to 11!) I can hear a faint high pitched noise. sounds electrical in nature. seems to be the same amount of level coming out of both sides of the monitors. starts at around 7'ish and increases as it goes up.\n\ndoes anybody else have a similar noise\/experience with their unit? obviously this is analog gear so I'm sure a bit is to be expected, though I was hoping for none.. ;)\n\nI don't have everything patched from the desk as well, so maybe it's a byproduct of this.\n\njust curious, would love for users to chime in. I sent a note to SSL and they said to send it in if it was unacceptable. they didn't really answer my question regarding if it was normal to experience some sound.\n\nI just got this back after sending it to the UK for almost a month after it was damaged during shipping, so I'm so not to keen on sending it out again. it's the center of my studio and, ummm, it would be hard to manage without it.\n\nthanks users!\n\nuri"
