I just picked one of these up from a friend. My initial thoughts are they are good not great. This one is not modded so I think I will try and mod it with either some vintage stuff I have or get some Carnhills. I will let you know if it turns into a great compressor after that.
I think it's so easy to underestimate the sound of this compressor for its cheap price tag and look/feel. To me it's one of the best sounding comps with added flexibility at any price. It does not need any mods imho. In my comparisons I sometimes preferred it over industry standards at many times the price.

Do it, Dan. I stumbled across one of these used and didnΒ΄t like the sonic quality unmodded. After fiddling with trannies for a day I really like it.

Anyone able to pass on any information regarding what can be upgraded for this? I think you can easily exchange the transformers? Input and Output? If its not too difficult/expensive i'd love to have a go at it, just for the experience if nothing else.
