Upgraded HS5 to Genelec 4080B, now i regret..shoul i go back to HS5/HS7
Hey so i have been producing electonic music (not professionally, for fun) for the last 10 years.. I had m-audio bx5 for 8 years and now HS5 for the last 2 years.
I wanted to give myself a preset and i bought the genelec 8040B. (when i tested them at the shop they sounded absolutely awesome)
I dont like to produce with a lot of bass, but HS5 still lack way too much. it makes my appartment shakes lol. (i will use my studio headphones to help with the low end)
but now i think 2200 $ for a pair was a poor purchase. when the hs7 where 800$ a pair (canada).
I cant drive the genelecs loud enough in my small room. so i doubt my mix will improve that much from the hs5. at first i just thought the genelecs were expensive, but if i use them for 10-15 years then its not so bad !
And if eventually i move from my appartment and buy my own place. i will be happy to have those genelecs when i have my own music basement and drive them at their full power.
But for now.. i think the hs7 (Even if they are considered inferior from genelec's) would have been way enough for my situation right now.. should i return the genelec and buy HS7 ?
