CLAVIA NORD RACK 2

The 2 Nord Rack oscillators are very clean, but sometimes sounding a little bit too digital. Thanks to the layering possibility you can layer up to a total of 8 oscillators and still can use 4 voices of polyphony( 8 if you have the PCMCIA expansion card). The oscillators also features fm, sync, ring and PWM and you can change the color of the noise from the second oscillator(I really like this).

The low frequency oscillators(LFO) are really fast. The second LFO can be switched into an arpeggiater.

The filter contains 5 modes and has a nice range. The resonance is not getting far enough to get the self-oscillating possibility and i really miss this on this great filter.

There are no on-board effects and the onboard Drive function is not very exciting. I mostly add some delay and a little reverb to make the Nord sound bigger.

There is a hidden mod on the Nord Rack, called Pelle's mod. Containing some weird sound possibilities. There is not much information available about this mod, but there are some Youtube movies about it.

I think you really want a red monster like the Nord Rack 2 (or Nord Lead 2) in your studio once you played with one. it's simple and has a wide range of possibilities.
