Alesis SR-16 by Victorian Needle
This review is in the context of studio use, I would give it a different review if it was in the context of live usage.
24 bit digital drum samples, for what it's worth internal bit rate has never been an issue, but something in the sound engine creates these samples harder to mix. I understand this a digital unit, and don't get me wrong, these samples have power but the samples take up much more mixing estate than analog circuits in my opinion.
Setting up midi only took me about 30 minutes. That's the most I've ever spent trying to set up midi. Typically it's plug and go, but this takes some tinkering, albeit once you know what to do, it's fairly simple.
I tried selling it at Guitar Center and they would only give me 15 dollars for it. These things do not sale well they told me. They still have new ones they can't even get rid of.
For live use is the preferred application, in the studio....... Good luck.
