headphone monitor rec

currently using dt990. never noticed the high end was a bit bright before reading it, now i'm curious about getting something more neutral.

dt48? audio-technica ath-m50? dt 770?

these will be using for monitoring on playback, not during tracking, in a relatively quiet environment.

would like to hear from plush.

I don't like the hype in the high of the 770 and 990.

Now I use the ATH-M50. In live recordings, when I compare it sound to the reality, it's far better than the Beyer. Just a little too much bass and a little hole in the high mid, and less air than what I hear in direct listening because of the closed cans. The Beyer add this air, but man what a bad sound on a violin !

If I didn't own a pair of Stax Earspeakers (realy, realy lucky day at a garage sale!) I would have the HD600's.
