I know everyone has different techniques when recording and I do know different ones produce different sounds. But some guy was ranting about Drake pinching his nose and rapping and says he did it the whole album. Does Drake really do that when he records or has anyone witness anyone do that?

What a stupid question. Of course he is not pinching his nose himself!
The studio's intern or more probably an assistant engineer has to lend him a hand and do it for him, because it is a part of the vocal chain, which obviously is the engineer's job.

Of course he could also use a nose clip, but I think pinching manually yields better results in general, though I am admittadly not an expert on the topic.

I don't even see why what he does in the studio should even matter to you if you are serious about making music yourself. Dude stuck to his style and vision for his music until people started to accept it and it became relevant. Try doing the same yourself... and maybe one day people will be wanting to know what it is you do in the studio to get the sound you are getting right now, whether you aspire to be a rapper, producer, or engineer. It's really not that hard... it just takes persistence, talent, and a good amount of luck to be in the right place at the right time, doing the right things. Coming to GS only to get sh!t on by our lineup of infamous contributors is not doing the right thing.

I remember years ago a friend of mine sent me a song he'd just recorded and his vocals were killer, like he'd never sounded before. I called him and told him how much I liked his vocals and the tone of his voice on the new recording. He told me it sounded that way because he was sick and couldn't breath through his nose. I told him to only record when he's sick from that point on. True story.

Im not saying this because I am looking for his technique. I was the one going against the grain and saying that is how his voice sounded. But I was reminded by it because someone had posted a drake acapella and this guy on twitter was swearing up and down that Drake pinched his nose when he would record because it sounded better. So don't turn this shit againt me I thought it sounded as crazy as ya'll but it was a small chance it could be true.
