Madlib studio burned up

losing house & belongings is bad enuff, but his whole studio and record collection burnt up, so he prolly cant get that same record collection again.

This whole fire situation is just unbeliveable

Aww damn. Not to mention insurance will never cover the cost of replacing the collection, the gear, the location etc. I guess the only upside is that he’s currently ok.

I think I read that Freddie Gibbs said that him and Madlib had an album finished that was lost in the fire too.

considering how prolific madlib is; there is probably dozens of albums lost

And he can probably do a new album in a few hours just like 9thWonder did with VII a few years back.

His record collection is most likely a sentimental thing and I feel for him for that but he can surely create good music in just a few hours time.

yup he will never be able to replicate that record collection; its defo a sentimental connection to the records cos u tend to rember where u found certain records, especially the rare ones.

Really strong idea in 2025 to have ones stuff backed up outside of one location &/or in the cloud somewhere. Hopefully they did.

One would believe its a given when you've become that succesful in your field. Especially because its 2025.

It's not like it never happened to any other artist before. It's something that I hear every year it seems.

welp we know that madlib has been doing alot of hip hop beats/albums on the ipad, so probably auto backed up to the cloud.

but am sure he probably also has multiple jazz albums that are recorded on tape, ADAT, tascam, roland multi track, that we have not heard that have been lost.

u know that dude has deep archives of unreleased albums
