I used to own this (hardware) and in an unexplainable and regrettable fit of madness sold it. I would love to beta test this.....

This looks like it could be very cool! My only wish is that it would've been a VST of the Mastering version... the Tube Vitalizer.

Looking forward already! I used to own the tube vitalizer. It was nice, but any hf boost also lead to a midrange dip, rendering it useless on the master bus unless you had a mix with way too much mid and not enough top end. Here's hoping the hf lift keeps the mid intact on this one 

Being a proud owner (and regular user) of the full suite of SPL plugs, I'd definitely like to board the beta testing train on this.

Wow, great product! Now about the price.........

Been waiting a long time for this one. So far I've used convolution impulses and nebula to get some Vitalizer flavor but the actual plug is greatly welcomed. Looking forward to it. Thanks SPL!

I still have a 'real' Vitalizer MK 2 Tube, and love it. I always said I wouldn't be parted with it for anything. But maybe the convenience of a plugin version might swing me?! I would love the opportunity to at least compare it to the real deal..

I know there are 'other' software/plugin enhancers. But none that I have heard so far come even remotely close to being as good as the MK2 tube I got in my rack here.. thumbsup

I have high expectations for this. Hopefully it will be in the upper echelon along with the other SPL/DU-created plugs.

What does this thing accualy do? tube compression, EQ with a tube gain stage?

It´s a stereo EQ originally - but not as you know it... :-)

There are some really unque (patented, actually!) circuits in the whole Vitalizer family, resulting in clearer mid range, crisp highs and really tight low end. There is a compressor in the Vitalizer, which controls the low end EQ. The Vitalizer is not a compressor itself though. Also, the MK2t features a tube driven stereo width control.

We also made a MONO VERSION of the MK2t plug-in, so you can use the Vitalizer on any mono / multi-mono channel. It´s a SICK bass drum EQ!!

Stereo Vitalizer MK2. The ‘MK2-T’ utilises two Sovtek 12AX7-

needs in recording, mastering, cutting and post production work.
Used on complete mixes or being inserted into the subgroups to
treat specific parts of the mix, the Stereo Vitalizer MK2-T will
perform the same task as those esoteric and costly equalisers
often used for audio sweetening but with far greater tonal flexibility
and at a much lower cost."

And the cost of the plug-in is even lower than the hardware...

Personally I'm a fan of big GUI's, but I know many aren't, so I'll ask: is the plug gonna be that big?

The GUI is 1024 x 94 pixels.
That is to make it look original 1RU (1HE in German).

Like I wrote above, the Tube Vitalizer I used to own had a tilt thing going on, so that as you cranked the treble up, it shifted the high midrange down by a lesser amount. That was no good for me on a master mix, but I heard the Danish band Aqua used the unit all the time to make a low end honky solid state Neumann sound like a nice tube C12.

Care to tell me if this unit does the same?

The Vitalizer plug-in does EXACTLY what the original MK2t hardware does, including the mid notches (that´s part of the wanted sound). If you like that or not on a master will certainly depend on the mix and your taste. Mixing through the Vitalizer works great for most types of music I would say.
Since we will offer a mono version I am pretty sure it could be a nice plug-in to add some character to many different sources, so why not use it to warm up a mic signal...

We have actually emulated the warm up phase!! The Vitalizer plug-in´s "active LED" will flash 5 times when opened as a new insatnce for the first time!

It will process audio right away though, of course.

Can´t get any closer to the real thing, hm?
