I thinks it's awful that some people bash gear THEY HAVE NOT TRIED!!!!!. I am so excited to get the Mynx and fill it with at least one dynamics module...I recently bough a SSL X Logic G series Compressor and I LOVE IT!

seriously though, I'm gonna add a Mynx at some point. not sure which modules yet. the new 4k stuff looks tasty though...

My question is, is there much of a difference from using a module for the Mynx as apposed to just getting an Alpha strip? I was looking on Vintage Kings site and they have Mynx packages including a K or E series strips for under $1,800. Or I can just buy an Alpha channel for around $1,250..

Any comments?

- different ball game, and you should be able to find the Alpha for less than that. The Mynx packages are just until the end of Nov., and would be $2475 from VK otherwise - no pre's either. Look at the feature differences. I'd be all over the Mynx special if I could afford it.

I know there are no pre's in those packages, its the SSL sound I was craving. I could buy the pre modules for the Mynx lunchbox if I wanted. Thats what I was wondering of how close the sound between the Alpha and the K or E series of the Mynx pre modules are.

I've seen alot of posts on here, not many people want SSL pre's.

I actually owned an Alpha a while back, had a bad tracking experience with it, so I returned it. I've been contemplating giving it another try, or just going a different route all together and get a John Hardy M1 or something..

The SuperAnalogue Mic Pre for Mynx/X-Rack is the same as in the 9000 channel strip.

The VHD Pre for Mynx/X-Rack is the same as in theE Series Channel Strip and Duality.

The Alpha Channel Pre is slightly tweaked from this and is designed to be a bit "friendlier" for DI'ing guitar

Just been reading through this thread again. Jim/Sam, a non-recall option for the X-Rack would be sweet. I think you'd find you might move a few more of these if the 'getting started' price point was a bit easier to justify. The modules themselves are well priced, just getting over the hurdle of buying the rack is holding me (for one) back at the moment.

Old post but I am looking to replace my Mynx power supply, it is damaged but working.

Anyone know where would be a great place to look?

Is that the one with a connector that looks a bit like 5 pin din midi?

I seem to remember they were made for SSL (if you look at it it will have their name on, not some generic make.)

IIRC there was something to do with power rails for logic (due to Recall) and without that the modules wont work (?)

A friend got some X-Modules and was baffled why they would not function with some homebrew PSU.

I suppose you've tried SSL for a spare?

I did, the replacement costs around 200 usd

There are 3rd party ones they recommended on amazon as well for. 1/3rd of the price as well.

Oh well at least they were decent enough to point out one that was not super expensive.
