Ghost Note Audio has released version 2.0 of
Cloud Seed, an algorithmic reverb specifically designed to produce abnormal, synthetic and otherworldly sounds.
The algorithm is based on the same principles as many classic studio reverb units from the 1980s, but with the ability to push every control into extreme territory. CloudSeed does not attempt to model any specific device, or even to be a general-purpose reverb plugin at all. It is best employed as a special effect, for creating thick, lush pads and textures out of simple input sounds.
Initially being released as an open-source, Windows-only plugin in 2014, Cloud Seed garnered a good reputation with sound designers and experimental musical artists, for its ability to create very different sounding reverberation. Due to its open source nature, the algorithm has found its way onto multiple different platforms, such as the
Daisy Seed,
VCV Rack, and many others, as well as multiple commercial products.
After 10 years of waiting, the definitive version of the algorithm finally comes to macOS, and it has received a much needed overhaul; a brand new UI, fixes for many compatibility issues and bringing it up to standards for modern DAW workflows.
Pricing and availability:
