Only to derail this thread a bit further: The Kazrog clipper Kclip3 is another great alternative.
I used Kclip many moons ago but never thought of Kclip as a coloring device. Always thought of it as a straight clipper that sounds good. Can it add color or warmth (shift the tone) to the mids, or low end in any way? Maybe I missed something.
bx_clipper is pretty nice. I like that you can set the clipping threshold without it adding gain. This is helpful to shave off some peaks and leave the underlying audio at the same level (great for busses). Also the mid-side clipping can be useful. Great UI and metering.
I find that Acustica ASH is the clipper to beat if you're talking about the sound/soft clipping character and making loud masters.

Absolutely. It has many different clipping modes, can go from very transparent to full distortion.
Voxengo OVC-128 is also great.
So many good clippers already available...
Will take a look at the PA one as well, but no need for Gold Clip at its ridiculous price.
Just like everything in this music world most things are pretty subjective and concepts like good or bad lie in the eyes of the beholder so I can only suggest you to try it and see if it works for you. It certainly does for me.

Is my concept....dont be a compulsive buyer ...same results with many other digital shit!
If u like it buy it is always a personal taste untill a real crap ...speaking about PA ..lol.
I'm not in the market for a clipper, between IK Classic Clipper and Boz Big Clipper I'm good for the 3dB max peak shaving for mixing purposes.
However, the idea being put forth in this thread that all DSP clipping algorithms are identical is just wrong. Trying a few on the same material should be obvious to your ears
After testing Bx vs Kclip and Ash further, Bx has far more creative ways to be set especially in mid side and frankly the fet/diode clipping sounds different than both Ash and Kclip.
Kclip and Ash can sound similar. I like the warm preset the most. Fire is overall the better sounding clipper imo and can pushed further than Bx. In the end it’s horses for courses.
Do you mean Fire The Clip is better or is there a Fire the Ash in the Ash plugin in the Ash suite??
Thanks!
Fire the Clip. It isn’t better I just prefer the results along with it being less CPU intensive. They all sound good. I almost purchased Ash but went for Shwabe Gold Clip instead so I’m just looking for something cleaner.

There is indeed Fire the Ash in the Ash suite, you can download the Ash trial and to demo it.
On topic: this is not a bad clipper and I would buy it together with a couple more of PA's 2023 offerings but only if they integrate a preset manager in their plugins, how hard is that? Even Acustica is doing it these days...
Until now I couldn't find something that actually sounded better to me than Elevate Saturate. This one does.
I moved from Saturate to Nova Clip recently, and I’m super happy. Might not be a permanent replacement for every situation, but super transparent clipping with virtually no cpu hit or latency… good stuff.

Just based on the audio samples it seems to add brightness. I also found it quite tight in a good way on the drum sample.
