Pulsar Modular P11 Abyss Compressor

I really appreciate what you’ve done with P42 Climax. It’s an indispensable tone shaping and saturation tool. If you can absolutely guarantee that P11 Abyss will do for compression what P42 Climax has done for tone shaping and saturation, I might be tempted to take a leap of faith.

I understand you’re calling it a leap of faith because there is no demo, and I don’t think you’ve provided any demo videos or sound clips yet. But it’s not easy for me to justify this kind of expense, even based on my experience with your other products, without some demonstration of this compressor’s capabilities.

I’m rolling it around in the back of my head, but I think it’s going to be a hard sell for my emotional side to convince my rational side that this would be a good idea. At the same time, I know what will happen. It will be released to great fanfare and critical acclaim. People will love it and say it’s like having a hardware compressor ITB, and it will never be available for this price again, so I’ll be kicking myself later. Can’t win.

When I finished designing Abyss (in its first incarnation) about a year ago, Beta testers said it will be a game changer.
I stopped the beta testing and went back to redesigning Abyss. I want them to say it is game over!

Yeah no thank you on the $222 leap of especially without any type of demo what so ever.. I think it's pretty weird to charge that much to find beta testers. Sound aside, there's way too much going on with that GUI. I get trying to be different, but man that thing would be a workflow killer for me. Very few plugins I would not buy because of GUI, but this turns me off.

I'm sure it will sound good tho as you have a lot of praise on these forums for your other stuff

Abyss will have dual GUI. The second GUI will be "audio pro" friendly designed by Max who already did a beautiful job with SIREN and P42 Climax.
We could not show that GUI because it is still in the making.

Will there be an intro price when it's actually released or is the "Leap of Faith" thing the only promotion for this? I just find it pretty odd to do this before beta testing, especially considering the price. Seems like a way to raise money tbh

We never had an intro price upon release of any of our products. We never conformed to any of the “standards” customers got accustomed to in this market. But on the other hand, we march to our own rhythm; example, 40 days full access trial (you can reset for another 40 days), riddle giveaway on GS, random act of giving out licenses, discounts on leaving a review (when announced), April 1st 20% discount, 25% discount during hotter than July sale (first week of July) and on Black Friday, Nov. 25 through 28th.

"Leap Of Faith" is a test of brand loyalty. We did it previously with Siren. In this round, we had much more users leaping in.
Also I enjoy connecting with my “leaper” users. And this is the best way to know who they are.

You got it! Hence the name Abyss. In fact the original GUI design translates exactly what Abyss stands for.

No worries all more conventional working pros will get an additional killer-design from Max. I´ll keep on the captains hat nevertheless.

If this Comp has the quality of P42 and processing efficiency, while implementing 4 compressors topology under the hood , then it becomes a bargain at this price imo

Taking Pulsar last releases, I'm pretty confident it'll sound great, but with that GUI I could not use it even if I thought it was beautiful (I don't, I think it's super ugly), because it looks pretty convoluted and weird to work on.

I do things that make me happy, then I ask Max who did Siren and Climax to save the day and create a proper audio plugin that makes the others happy. This way, we all are happy!

I cannot wait to try this after using P565 filterset, p42 climax, Lunar Landar for some time now. These are some of my favorite plugins at the moment. Usually having the filterset and climax on most channels! Now I'm ready to dive into the abyss!

Are the Beta-Invitation-Mails for the "leaper" already sent out? I didn’t get one yesterday/today.

We were putting the final touches on P42 Climax v4 and took a bit more time to finish, hence delaying the beta for Abyss by a week.
I will send out a newsletter in this regard today.

Abyss Beta testing will start this Friday.
I will not say "get ready" since you all got ready the day you purchased Abyss before even listening to an iota of an audio sample
By the way, for the record, we had 6 doing the leap of faith when we ran the P565 SIREN campaign. For Abyss we had 50 "Leapers".
Thanks again for your trust and I am confident to exceed your expectations.

If all goes well, Friday we deliver P11 Abyss to the Leapers.
Thereafter, we will start working on the GUI.
2 years in the making... the core engine is complete.
Is it a game changer? I would say it is game over!

Ps: we still need to implement Oversampling which should give more depth to the Kick. Also I should try Abyss in Dual mono. There is still some mojo in the “airiness” of the hardware sample that is not translating in Abyss.

Just a few well tweaked baby steps from here and P11 will enter territory where no other soft-comp ever dared to travel yet.

The hardware recordings we got are driven to the extremes, we have to keep that in mind.
Except for one, all soft-comps (I tested a lot with well known names) are crumbling apart, before they even can get close to the result of the video.

After months of testing this baby, I am now even more exited as I was from the very beginning. I am glad to see you guys here, joining us on the journey. Looking forward to the next phase with you.

We sent out today download links to all the early adopters and to our close circle beta testers.
We hope to get the Windows version by Monday.
Next on our list is to move to the new GUI. We are currently running the 2 year old GUI prototype.

Beta version sounds amazing. The reduction curve feels unique.
However, I have not yet mastered it and consider it too early to make an evaluation.

The options are plentiful and you can do a lot with it. The attack and recover settings are beast.
If you like the sound of PulsarModular, you can't go wrong buying it.

It is reserved now to the brave Leapers (for the upcoming several months).
Expect weekly updates to the Abyss Build. We will also announce updates on this forum thread, so as to document the voyage of P11 Abyss from Beta to release.

In this version we gave the option to have the clipper before or after the Mix (blend Dry & Wet).
In mastering scenarios it is best to have it after the Mix.
Windows version resolved and sent out.
Now we wait for Max (designer of P42 and Siren) to render and deliver the final pro audio GUI.
Meanwhile, we will start working on oversampling routines. Abyss can go down to Attack value of 1 µs while still maintaining musicality and a zero sample delay compensation!

this will be one of the best if not the best compressor plugin ever made

Was able to play first time yesterday with O2 and Clipper pre/post MIX position (Win version). I coudn´t agree more

Really looking forward to test this one out. Any idea of when version 1 will be released? Autumn? Winter?

In this version, we implemented the Expander routine.
Try it and blend it back with the Dry signal for a more aggressive initial transient.

Oversampling (OS) is implemented . You have 3 kinds similar to those found on P42 Climax.
Without OS, Abyss is able to run with zero sample latency.

Next version, we will see the new GUI implemented (expect it around Sept. 14) and new presets to emulate different hardware compressors.

No matter what you throw at it Vocals to Snares from bass to the whole mix, it just works and works phenomenally well the best Compressor l have ever used.
