This one is right up my alley - love the crunch amp. Maybe Vox? The lead has a really nice range of distortion even.

Yeah, I couldn't care less about a company's marketing, it's their product I'm buying. That said, I can't blame any modern company for trying to stand out amongst a crowd when it's tough to stand out amongst any crowd.

If it's a Vox it's an instant buy for me. I've been waiting for a strong Vox in digital form for a very long time.

Not 100% sure, I don't know the Vox sound as well as Fender or Marshall, but I *think* it is. They do mention 'British' and it's not immediately sounding like a Marshall to me.

Is there not a way to disconnect the cab from the amp like in the other ones?

Er...you can definitely turn off the cabs, if thats what you mean. Or to be more concise, you click the "active" button beneath each mic on the cab. Disabling both will allow you to run third party impulse responses or whatever.

Oh also, the first amp doesnt have a cab section on this plugin. You can use the blend knob to go full wet and then try running that into a cab. But I assume because its acoustic emulation, that a "cab" is sort of built into its tone.

In all of the previous Archetypes you can mix and match the cabs and the heads. This one doesn't seem to do that, the cabs seemed locked to the heads.

Ah yeah, strange. Yes, they REALLY need to just make a full modular version that you can load any amp, any pedal, any cab, as long as you own them. People have been asking for awhile now...

There's two channels - which *could* be AC30 - but one of them is higher gain, which *isn't* AC30. You can get some good AC30-esque sounds from it, regardless of what it is though.

Ok, got some time. The baseline raw signal peaks at about -9dB. It is the third sample here. I put them in order of cleanest -> dirtiest. The signal is very full frequency and raw at this point. No EQ or compression, so consider it to be unmixed at it's starting point. Guitar is soloed.



Here is a sample where the input into the amp is very low (baseline -24dB on the amp input dial). It's the cleanest of these three samples. During arpeggiated parts, you can hear some light dirt and you get a sense that it's an amp that's ready to go but the volume dial is pulled back.

This middle sample is close to what I'll likely use in the mix (baseline -13dB on the amp input dial). The arpeggiated parts are much more broken up and over the line into a little bit of distortion. What I like most about this sample is that at various points during the arpeggiation and also during some strummed parts, the signal blooms and decays nicely with the playing dynamics. I really like this. It gives a sensation of playing the amp as much as playing the guitar.

Here is a sample of it going in at the baseline raw signal level. Dirty and even silky-ish, yet still quite articulate. Even here, it is easy to hear the variation in the distortion following the playing. This is part of a longer section that repeats twice at the end of this song, so I might automate the input signal and push it up half way to mimic the guitarist turning the dial up a little bit for the second repetition.

This is a hard rock song I started working on using this Archetype. The higher gain amp isn't a screamer but it works great for this stuff. The white amp is great for cleans. The effects work well too. Of course we would all like to mix and match at some point without having to do it within our DAW. I really like stacking delays and pitch shifters etc... Either way, the song I'm working on gives an example of a non prog djent rock whatever the classification of the artists music is. I'm getting ready to purchase. I have Gojira, Granophyre, and Darkglass. They are all great and easy to use. Really a step up from everybody else as far as amp sims go. I revisited Helix Native and it just doesn't do it for me in comparison. I think the only thing that would get me away from Neural is if Fractal released a plug in, which will never happen.

The good thing about plugins though is the ability to change it afterwards with minimal effort hahaha

Gotcha. That's the sound I like to hear from my neck pick up. Personal preference I suppose. I usually set up a clean style amp with a mid cut but a bass and treble boost to get that sound. I've done this for about 20 years hahahaha. It's hard not to do it. Same with the way I mix drums, I just prefer certain sounds.

Even in my favourite songs of all time if I was in the studio when they were being produced I would have suggested some things lol which may have made them worse in other peoples' opinions - music is very subjective.

As to the first motif I would go ala Guns'n'Roses and go really heavy/squealing to give a 2nd hammer blow to the listener after the initial smash straight in to the song. Then later I would use the motif with a more cutting (maybe treble boosted) clean sound.

I usually use neck for harmony and bridge for lead (to cut through more).

But love the song - awesome stuff. Great that you have posted it here for us all to listen to.

I always found the bridge pickups to be really edgy for cleans. Almost piercing. I have always like the piano style qualities of the neck pups.

I actually wrote that riff distorted originally and slightly different but decided I wanted to do something clean since it's been awhile since going down that old road. I'm usually writing metal riffs hahaha so this is a change for me but not something so unfamiliar having grown up as a teen in the 90's when there was a load of good American rock banks.

I've demo'd Nameless and Nolly amp sims in the past. Really dig the tone and sounds but was never pressed to purchase. But the Tim Henson sim is something special. It has an inspiring sound. The Multivoicer and Reverb are beyond cool. Not to mention I've always been a sucker for tucked in the mix acoustic accompaniment in heavy sections of a track and this acoustic chain 'sim' (I don't know what else to call it!) just fits right in for the task. Wow. Bought. And I went in thinking I'd give it a hard pass.

The acoustic amp is just wonderful. I have no idea what it's actually doing, but on electric guitar it sounds a lot like piezo pickup and is great for strumming and other acoustic kind of sounds. Other amps are not really in my preferred style, but I can imagine I could buy it on some sale just for the acoustic amp.

These amp sims are alive! I went back to a track that I had printed stems with the Nolly sim before the trial ran out. I dialed up TH with similar settings and A/B vs Nolly. As great as Nolly sounds TH has a depth that surpasses it, IMO. The guys at Neural def sold their souls to the devil.

Three weeks ago in this very thread, I laughed at A:TH's over-the-top marketing. I'm also not a personal fan of Polyphia (who I had never heard of before this plugin's release, but subsequently checked out).

However, I did end up trying the plugin itself, and, for whatever reason, I find it works much better on my electric solid-body ukulele than many other amp sim plugins, and the presets, for example, generally already sound great on the ukulele with much less tweaking. I don't know if it has to do with the different range and tone of ukulele versus guitar that A:TH is particularly suited for, or if this plugin just happens to be good at the tones I never knew I always wanted, but in either event, I admit that I'm thinking of getting this when my demo period expires in a few days.

(The marketing copy still annoys me though. )

Apple Silicon support has been updated for this plug-in, if that's your thing!
