Could the spectrum Scaling have the option for +/- 1 dB ?

In Mastering ... we're often dealing with 1dB or less in adjustments.

Agreed! A way to fine tune the spectrum scaling would be amazing!

Also, if at all possible sometime in the future, would it be possible to develop a 3rd major control that lets us decide how much of the transient is processed versus sustained/averaged signals? I think sometimes a weakness of Gullfoss is that it seems to over process transients.. which is of course the perfect case for choosing Gullfoss Live, but it'd be handy to not have to switch plugins just for this purpose. Would be nice if it was possible to control this from a parameter.

Heck, while we're piling on the feature requests: how about a 'range' control that limits max/min gain changes?

Within minutes of installing, ALL of my iLok software stopped working. I have now uninstalled, reinstalled iLok License support and rebooted several times but keeping getting same message when attempting to open iLok Manager:

Software Component Unavailable

Anyone running OSX 10.9.5 with a successful install? I am not blaming Sound Theory, but everything was fine (I was running fine only minutes before with several iLok plug-ins, no problem). The ONLY thing that changed in that period was running the the Gullfoss update installer.

EDIT: Just to update, my 'clone/bu system drive, sync'd a week ago...is running iLok 5.3.2 and everything is fine when booted off of it...eliminating any computer hardware or iLok dongle issue that might have coincidentally? 'just happened' after installing Gullfoss update. More and more, it is looking to be something related to Ilok that was installed during the Gullfoss install. If it is iLok License Manager 5.3.3, then that would explain why uninstalling/re-installing 'the latest manager from website' as recommended is not solving the problem. I will now attempt to purge 5.3.3 from original system drive and replace with previous 5.3.2 that seems to be fine.

FWIW, I successfully had last installed Relab's 'LX480 Complete' a week ago, and several newer releases previous to that...but my iLok Manager was definitely updated within the last week, again with Gullfoss being the only new iLok software installed since then...so OSX 10.9.5 users proceed with caution at this point. There is no other 'qualified' installer for OSX 10.9.5 available at iLok website other than this new? 5.3.3, so be prepared.

Will update if I am able to successfully revert...

UPDATE 2: Have now successfully reverted iLok License Support to v5.3.2 on main system drive, all iLok software seems to be working again. In summary, v5.3.3 is NOT compatible with OSX 10.9.5, so using the Gullfoss updater on OSX 10.9.5 will disable ALL iLok licenses based on my experience today. Unless you have a copy of v5.2.2 or working back-up, proceed with caution on any older OS...10.9.5 is officially listed as supported, so who knows what legacy systems the iLok support components are now incompatible with if they don't).

I have alerted both 'iLok' support and 'Sound Theory' support to the issue and resolution for my system.

While we are at it, I would like to reiterate a couple of feature requests from the previous thread:

(i) a mechanism/button that links recover and tame so that both can be moved up or down while preserving their distance, and perhaps even another button with which to preserve their ratio

(ii) A/B mechanism

how about a 'Difference' button, that allows one to monitor ONLY what Gullfoss Master is doing.

Yeah - they call it a delta button in other plugins which have a function like that.

The amount of update requests now lol. Probably in Gullfoss 2.0.

Just gave the new 'mastering' version a spin and I love it!

Pretty sure, as CPU allows, I'll be using this in place of the regular one from now on as it sounds fantastic. Live version is also getting tons of use as I sometimes prefer it's sonic footprint over the regular one depending on the content -- Kind of feel weird 'abandoning' the original version for the new updates ... like I'm being disloyal to it or something, hehe.

Just a quick, but IMPORTANT follow-up concerning iLok Support v5.3.3 and legacy systems.

iLok has responded to my support request:

"Hello,

This is an issue that only affects Mac OS 10.8 and 10.9 and will be resolved in the next release. If 5.3.2 is working for you, you will be fine using that version until the next is released. "

So, 'legacy owners' with 10.8/10.9 should probably be warned that ALL of their iLok licenses could possibly go offline if they use very recent plug-in installers (like the 'Gullfoss' one) compiled with most recent iLok License support v5.3.3, OR, the currently available version from iLok website v5.3.3...which states as having 10.9 support.

Then no chance to try it if you are in 10.9.5!?
I would give that a try but I m om just 10.9.5

You can deselect the iLok / PACE files during Gullfoss installation - this will prevent your existing iLok software from being updated.

Use the Customize install option - screen shots attached.

I had planned to 'manually' install just the new Gullfoss component/vst at some point...but to be honest, after having ALL my iLok licenses go offline...I needed to take just a minute or two TO BREATH AGAIN lol

Love all the updates in general tho. So much that I finally bought the plugin. Demo'ed a while ago and held off but felt these additional versions made it worth it.

Wow, great news! I just love this software. Use it just a little (1 to 3% on tame and recover), -10-20% on brightness and voila!

I'll install the master version and take a spin.

Is the new version installer just available in our accounts if we log in because I got no email informing me of any new version.

I have now installed 'manually' and verified...the plug-ins themselves are working fine on 10.9.5.

It was just the iLok update install/update part that created my issues and there is no other compatibility problem I have identified as of yet.

Just use Simon's method for 'Custom' install, bypassing any iLok updates, and you should be fine ;-)

Man i was really thinking to sell Gullfoss, but now im very happy that I didnt do it.

its a great suite now with the 3 versions. Very nice.

Tried out the master version tonight and I had to really make sure my ears weren't deceiving me when I got a really noticeable result from just 1% tame and recover.

I was happy with the mix but it just seemed to give a little clarity and distinction to sounds, hanging the mix together even better, nothing drastic just what it needed. What a great piece of software!

Almost each time, I use no more than 1% Recover/Tame ... and less, to
just bring that little extra to the final Master.

It's very easy to overdo the settings ... and why I hope we get a Global
A/B/C/D option added, so that quick a/b comparisons can be evaluated.

I also still want to see a +/- 1dB scaling for the Master Edition. Much of our Mastering EQ decisions are in the [less than] 1dB correction.

Oh ... something else ....

It might be very interesting to be able to see a cumulative over time display of what Gullfoss is doing across the spectrum, as an added display option, that could be user selected at some point, to see what Gullfoss is focused on. This would run in the background.
