Old wive's tales, NS-10s? yeah.. maybe.. mostly.. but newer yamahas (which I've had) absolutely DID NOT translate ANYWHERE near as good/effortless as my ADAM A7X do.
The best move I ever made was moving away from the Yammy HS series to the A7xs. Translation for days, only the bottom end needs the odd nip and tuck sometimes.
And yea these T series are a bit ugly, I still think the A7x is the best looking (but then I would cos I stare at them 12 hours a day)
And they do translate, they are not 'nice' sounding (wtf man?? you sure you even owned them?) they are actually highly revealing monitors that will not lie to you, they reveal stuff I simply couldn't even HEAR on various yamahas I've had. They **** all over the hs-80 and similar yammies, and unlike the genelecs they don't gloss up the sound.
If you mix is great? yes the A7x will sound glorious, very 3D, if your mix is off, they WILL show you, make no mistake. Of course, if you had them in a broom cupboard mixing EDM VStis in ableton/loops then could be the user ****ing up there not the speakers.
