what kinda cross-grade pricing can E console owners expect for this thing?

It's a different console emulation and sounds completely different too. Therefore, a new plugin. However, Plugin Alliance are great at looking after their customers by offering significant discounts and vouchers.

Wow the BXconsole E thread is like a ghost town now, and this G thread is like the early days of the E thread super full.

I'm gonna wait till my next mix to check the demo as it only has 15 days and i might get too carried away.

UNLESS dirk and the gang hook me up with a great voucher and or discount,as i already bought the Bxconsole N,and BX console E, in that case i'd just grab it even though i'm totally set with the E and soon to be updated N.

Since i pretty much would be mainly just acquiring the two additional eqs i'm gonna need some more motivation ...dirk do your magic.

Yes but the dynamics section is if I'm not mistaken exactly the same as the E console plugin?

Edit: As in I would be surprised if there is no cross grading when you basically already own half the plugin.

Yep! It was a bonus to get the G comp included in the E console. That's the way I look at it anyway.

However, I'm sure there will be a great introductory price. Vouchers too if you purchased from them before.

Well it was marketed as included when I bought the E so I can't say I see it as a bonus. Anyway will be interesting to see the price of this thing. If as a owner of E already you're supposed to pay another $220 or so including VAT (without a voucher) for two more EQ's then at least I won't be demoing this. I'm sure they are great though.

I'm sure there will be a nice offer for owners of E. After all the dynamics are the same, thd is the same, only the eq section seems to be different.

The only way to judge whether a plugin is worth the investment or not is to demo!

Here is some interesting background reading on the G series EQ from SSL engineer Paul Frindle.

" the effective Q lessened with lower boosts and cuts and therefore effectively widened the bandwidth for smaller amounts of EQ. The reason for this was to make delicate approaches to EQ more audible and thus encourage the user to employ somewhat less dramatic and more subtle EQ styles.
This was done to address the increasingly popular sonic styles of the time and counter some of the criticisms of the console sounding 'harsh' - due to the narrow bandwidth mid range boosts that had typified earlier production styles. The increase of max boost/cut from 15dB to 18dB was allowable due to reduced noise levels in the G series design.

The LF and HF shelves were also considerably re-worked with extra response poles to create an increased warmth (response overshoot bump) in the LF region and sharper freq definition (MF suck-out) in the HF regions - again to address the emerging styles of the times. BTW this also meant that the shelving sections were slightly unsymmetrical in boost and cut.

Although the G series was certainly a more 'musical' general purpose EQ that responded more naturally than the previous versions, the loss of high Q low gain cuts was a disadvantage when trying to tame resonances (especially percussion) etc.. Therefore some people found it disappointing under some conditions."

I really hope so. If i remember well, the only reason to split the E and G was the CPU hit, so I see the new console as an integration of the E more than a totally new one. Not for free, but with a very nice incentive to buy.
The Eq difference must be huge, and the price really fair or, as I already own both both N and E, I'll pass this time.

As much as I would like to have 2 flavors of SSLs, I can't justify spending twice the price of a premium plugin for this.

BxE already gives me the SSL eq and Dynamics to cover a lot of situations.

First off the video did not explain anything. Just music that was loud overcompressed. No explanation about the sound of the plug in and what it is. Is is the original BX Console with the THD knob and some other features?

According to the web site it's another yes another SSL channel strip. Too bad it's not the 9000 series. Do we really need another 4,000 emulation? Don't get me wrong I think the original and BX Console E are great. But I am disappointed they did not come out 9000 series. I will try it out and I am sure it's nice but another 4000 SSL? I always prefer the Waves E series punchier sound over the G which has a smoother sound

Same here. So far I have the N and was waiting to compare the SSL's and just get one for now. The question is E or G? I make mainly EDM, Electronica and chill out.

That's what i would do, If i wasn't the gearslut I am, and had already bought bxE one day after It was released.

I think the right "upgrade" price for E owners should be 29,00 US + VAT.

I too would obviously like a great upgrade price but realistically we probably have to consider that when the original G series hardware came out all the E series owners didn't get an upgrade for an additional 10% of their initial purchase price? It was a new console and evolution even if it had some similarities to the E. But there again it's only code not hardware so yeah let's have it for $29 I can also see it now either this year's Black Friday or next. Bx Classic Consoles Bundle - Neve, SSL E and G series - all 3 for $149!

Demo won't load in PT 12HD. Says it's not aax 64 compatible.

It is a model of the G console, not the original bx console (referred as N lately). It's written everywhere, including in the title of this very thread.

25 posts in and no one talking about how it sounds. Surely some of the E console users have grabbed the demo and compared already. I'm planning my demo period around an upcoming surgery, so I won't start the demo for a few days yet. Let's hear some initial reviews!!

Sorry, but this time I would to know the price before to demo it.
Otherwise it's pretty useless for me.

I have to say G is more my thing than E. I felt like I would have to keep taking out the edge in E...where as, G...I want to add. It seems like even the output is a little less on G, but it might be the greater upper mid presence on E that makes me feel that. Either case...G is winning for me so far.

Of course I had to run the demo. At first I was pissed that it came out so quickly after I bought the E console, but having all 4 colors of EQ across both consoles will be really sweet! They've added the X3 /3 options on the EQ which is fantastic. As far as price goes, Dirk and PA are always very fair with coupons and introductory prices. I don't see how any reasonable fan of BX can avoid this one!
Anyone know when BX Console N update is coming? Also am I the only one who wants a re-Sizable GUI???

I also want resizeable GUIs. With larger HD and 4k monitors/resolutions becoming the norm, this is really important.
