* The releasing of PSP Nexcellence a rich-sounding, spring emulation inspired by and modeled after “Necklace-type” reverb units.
PSP Nexcellence is a rich-sounding, spring emulation inspired by and modeled after “Necklace-type” reverb units. It provides two different spring set processors and can use one or both of its processing engines simultaneously. The algorithm has improved on the original hardware by providing a handy set of parameters to let you control inherent aspects of the spring reverb.

Quite nice.. i used to really like sknote necklace and when i went mac pro tools i sold it and i miss it.. This is more of an all purpose verb than a spring reverb name would suggest, it's not super springy really, just whatever it does it sounds really lovely and works on a variety of sources even drums. Electric guitars sound great.
I would recommend it. PSP are a wonderful indi company with equally wonderful products. I just wish they'd make a delay with both a low and high pass RESONANT filter and a really nasty distorted feedback. They are almost there but not quite.

Reason: one spelling correction
I already have PSP SpringBox which I like a lot but got this as well because it's such a different, unique flavor. SpringBox is much cleaner and more hi-fi sounding. Nexcellence feels like the springs are thicker and the decay is more discreet and less washed out. Very cool sound!
I did a quick comparison with muted electric guitar strums from Rob Papen RG... first dry gtr, then Nexcellence, then SpringBox, then my outboard MOD spring tank (2 16" springs - rendered twice for each stereo side).
There's so many options for changing the tone on both PSP plugs that one really has to mess around with them both to get a fair comparison, but I tried to dial them in pretty close. I maxed the decay time of Nexcellence, but even maxed it seems a bit short considering the length of the necklace springs it is emulating, but I've never used a real necklace spring unit so maybe that's what the true decay really is - maybe it's shorter than a standard tank because the springs are thicker?
1. unprocessed guitar 2. Nexcellence 3. SpringBox 4. Outboard spring tank
Has anybody compared this to Softube's spring reverb plugin and/or the UAD AKG BX 20?
Haven't had a chance to try this or the plugins above out yet), but since you're inquiring about alternatives, my favorite plugin spring reverb to date is the Aegean Music "Spirit Reverb." It's entirely algorthmic, but totally nails the Fender/Accusonics spring reverb tank sound. Not hifi at all, but very springy and fantastic on guitar. I only bring it up because 1) you asked about alternatives, and 2) it's a damn shame that Spirit Reverb isn't more well known considering how good it is.

I have a Fender Valve Reverb Tank and the plugin you mention. While the plugin does a decent spring reverb, it doesn't "nail" the Fender tank sound and richness in the slightest, in my opinion and experience.

Fair enough. "Nails it" was certainly not the most careful choice of words, but I've got a vintage Princeton Reverb and a '94 Fender (Evil) Twin Amp, and out of the algorithmic springs I've used, Spirit Reverb is the one that sounds most like the spring tank in a guitar amp. I prefer it to every other algorithmic I've used to date, which admittedly, isn't everything including this new PSP one.
so Its nothing like softube... and different (darker/deeper/smoother) from PSP Springbox... I agree Aegean Music "Spirit Reverb." is very good as well but After demoing this Dark Springy Mess of Gooeyness! I have to agree bye bye C-note
Tested it and I really love the sound.
Perfect for vintage style guitars etc..
But Im facing an issue.
Whenever I open the Plugin it takes about 30sec. to load the gfx.
Dont have this with any other plugin - gfx card is Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti
Anyone has experienced similar issues with a PSP plugin?
I used Nexcellence as a "room sound" on some sampled clarinets. It was surprisingly wonderful, and not "that springy sounding."
I really like the vibe of this reverb. It reminds me sort of like the GGG/Hermida "Belton Brick" reverb pedal I use for my guitar rig. It's just got that shimmer and that mid richness to it.
I'm wondering if I should grab SpringBox in the next hour or two before it's off sale again. Gosh I've spent so much on "deals" this month, it gets expensive.
