You can do that of course. It's in the toolbar, check out the SUM and DIFF modes. If you want detail control over each channel, use two instances in series (one for SUM, the other for DIFF. Or one for LEFT, the other for RIGHT).

I love Nova GE. I wish I got it earlier.
It just works and sounds absolutely fantastic.

What I miss in Pro-q2: parallel eq, dynamic eq, oversampling, a little bit of non-linearity - all this I have in Nova GE. Unbelievable quality!

If I set the sum or diff option does the learn function still listen to both mid and side regardless or the selected part?

Does the deresonate function on this work similarly to those new smart EQs like Soothe and Gullfoss?

Soothe and Gullfoss work in real time, as soon as you send a signal through them.
If you have those you will know how they work.

Unlike Soothe and Gullfoss, Nova must first "learn" the signal you want to deresonate. This simply means letting the signal pass through Nova for about 30 secs while it learns the spectral properties of the source and then comes up with a deresonate suggestion.

Then you can choose static or dynamic deresonate, depending on what best suits your purpose. And then you can dial in further changes yourself to the bands that have been suggested by the deresonate function.

Yes is the simple answer.
I've got all 3.
They can all do good things, but sometimes one is better than another for the job at hand. The one I use least is Soothe.
Nova GE is good now and I'm pretty sure it will only get better
The benefit in getting Nova is that, as well as the "smart" functions, it's a fantastic dynamic EQ too, don't forget that.

I use Soothe quite a bit more for de-resonance-ing. I find it much quicker to set up and better-sounding for that particular task.

OTOH, Nova is my go-to dynamic eq and is unbeatable in terms of price, sound quality, and ease of use. It's also got a damn fine-sounding high shelf boost if you wanna use it as a regular ol' static eq.

And many times one will need a high shelf boost to compensate post Soothe. Soothe can be a very fine needle to thread. I think Nova is far more utilitarian.

I think the sound of Nova is the best in his category...regardless of price....

Good plug

I am a new user of Tokyo Dawn's Nova GE, hoping to shorten my learning curve a bit.

I have been given a mix for mastering that needs to have the vocal (male) cut a bit more through a busy mix. I understand Nova can do this quite well. Does anyone have a preset they can share that I could use as a starting point for solving this problem?

Also, is there a web site where people share presets for TDL plugins?

Noticed something odd today on my Macpro 2008, OSX 10.11.6, Logic 10.3.3 rig:

Using paid (GE) edition of Nova, and can't figure out why the LPF slope is grayed out (stuck at 6db/oct with no option to change). HPF shows all the options. Everything else seems to be working. This is a workhorse EQ for me that I use all the time, and I don't remember this being the case previously.

EDIT: other instances on other tracks aren't doing the same thing, and I noticedd on the one that is, the display fades to black on the right side so that the yellow curve begins to disappear at around 20k, and is gone before 30k. This also, does not look to be the case with other instances, so something must be conflicting here.

Is there some likely culprit here as far as another setting conflicting or otherwise causing it to gray out?



I'm on v1, btw. Just saw there's a v2 right now, but in the middle of mixdown, and I'd prefer not to do any changes until later. Would like to know, though... is the upgrade just plug and play (existing v1 presets and plugin states within projects remain unbroken?)

Is this ECO mode? In this case, it's intentional, for performance reasons (some features are then more restricted).

I'm sure this preset can be improved upon (someone feel free to do so and post back) but I was trying to bring some life into guitar cabs using third-party IR's and hit upon an approach using Nova in a post-cab insert position. The idea here is to simulate the movement and dynamics of the speaker.

This preset will boost the low-end as you play louder, while simultaneously cutting a bit of highs. I also did a soft-ish cut around 400hz to prevent things from getting muddy. The low-band ratio sounds best between .7 and .6 IMO, go closer to zero or adjust the threshold if you find it overbearing.

You'll have to adjust to taste based on volume and preferences, but it can really bring a cabinet sim to life once dial in well.

nova in multiband mode: can this replace waves linearphase multiband in mastering?

i don‘t have waves anymore and miss LPMB plugin. it gave a more finished sound with a few simple clicks.
how does nova GE work as a multiband compressor in a mastering situation?
