I have all the channels except the 9000. Mostly I use the 4000 and the BCA. However, I just bought the Grand Channel on the latest sale last month and WOW I really love the compressor! I'm still trying to find the sweet spot with the Drive control. But man, just like the BCA, I've been reaching for it on vocals... very sweet. I really like how I can use the compressor as a stand-alone plugin because I often use serial compression, so being able to drop that thing in wherever I need it is awesome.
I'm not really bonding with the ACA, but that just may be because I don't really do that "mid-forward rock" thing very often.
I feel that way about the Grand Channel, haha.
I set out to learn how to make due with whatever I had, but then progress to "what will serve the recording best".
I didn't love the ACA when I demoed it last year, but upon trying it again a few weeks ago I used it on a song I am working on with my re-united band mates and it just lit the song up on every instrument.
See that's the thing to me about the concept of a console- most things you do should sound passable or maybe almost good in terms of EQ moves- but then you find a sweetspot and you know when you found it.
That's why I don't think I can ever go back to point and click plugins- because I am seeing what not looking at the screen can do for my musical choice making and it really is the difference maker.
The consoles themselves are more icing on the cake now for me.
I will say, I get why EDM and urban music likes the 9000k-
You can get some beef out of the ACA with the stock EQ curves like on a kick drum.
