converting m4a to either mp3 or wav ?...

Hi guys,

I just purchased a song from itunes and i don't how to burn it onto a CD...

I usually work with Nuendo 3.1 (which is like Cubase), say if I have a mp3 file that I want to burn onto an audio CD, I drag and drop it into a Nuendo project, mix it down as a 16/44 wav file and then drag this wav file into NERO and burn it onto a cd...

The song i purchased from itunes is in the .m4a format. My Nuendo doesn't seem to accept it...

Any advice would be appreciated,

Converting from lossy to lossy (i.e. m4a to mp3) is pointless and degrades the quality of the audio. Converting from lossy to PCM (m4a to wav) doesn't improve the quality and only takes up more space. Use iTunes to burn it to CD. It's just one track right? Make a new playlist, drag it into that playlist, then File > Burn Playlist to Disc.

Nuendo does not accept m4a file. you can download the free m4a to mp3 converter.

Just burn from iTunes. Drag it in a playlist, right click on playlist, burn.

This. Why use three programs when you can just do everything in iTunes with the push of a button? You can also just do the conversion there if you want to use something else for burning.

Ok, first I didn't know you could burn it onto CD using itunes. that's good.

But suppose I still want to convert all the m4a downloads to simple WAV files (for archiving purposes etc) whats the best way of doing it?

You can do that in iTunes too. But why? You'll just end up with needlessly large files.

If you want to convert to WAV or mp3 all you need to do is go to your preferences>general>import settings and then choose either WAV or mp3. Once that is configured you can right click on your music file and create mp3 or whatever setting you chose.

This is hell of a lot easier today.

If someone is maybe still requiring to convert m4a files to wav format, there are tons of free online converters. I would honestly prefer using some of the premium tools that you need to buy or at least pay subscription. But, if you think that is unnecessary and still want to do it for free, my recommendation is to watch out on what websites you visit and what converters you use. I personally use Converter365, find it here. Pretty simple. I had no problems converting larger files.
