I have been using my US2400 with PTHD 8.1 and Mac OSX 10.6.8 for as long as the two have been available with no issues. I would love to have an update that enables the master fader, and plugin control. Those two updates would make the US2400 worth it's weight in gold!!!!

your us2400 file removal is abosutly right-and it works perfect on all functions--so thatk god i dont need now to buy a new controller!!

but you didnt explain excactly how to remove the us2440 bundle or where to find it and if your semi mac system illiterate like me,then its not easy to do this and u spend hrs goooogleing around to no avail:::: SO HERE GOES
SIMLPLY click this path to a perfect us2400 in logic:

APPLICATIONS/LOGIC PRO app.(right click)/SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS/CONTENTS/MIDI device plug-ins/ ----then find the US-2400.bundle
and simply throw it in the trash or BETTER,,jus safe keep it somewhere else

oh just to say that the same action MIGHT work in cubase or othe DAWs that dont initially support your us2400 -but DONT trash the us-2400 bundle just in case u need to put it back

Cubase and US2400 works fine with either of the firmware update software.
On a Mac.
Dunno bout any other platforms.
I wouldn't be doing any equivalent trashing for non Logic users.

I have recently upgraded my CPU from a Windows XP based machine to Windows 7 (64bit) and my Tascam works great with Ableton. One thing i have noticed over the years is that if you load all your plug-ins first and soundcard drivers, etc, this seems to have more harmony between them all...or it could be just a coincidence. In any case, I have read recently that Ableton is Beta testing 64 bit for the program itself so with increased RAM support and the Tascam working like a champ.....I will be buried in the studio!!!

I've finally got my US-2400 working with my system and it has taken forever. I'm very happy to have it working with my hackintosh build. I was thinking about selling it last week but didn't want to quit the effort because as you can see in my attached pic, the mixer is flush mounted inside a custom console desk rather than table-top style.

My next project will be this Regieraum

But not as cluttered. I'm considering using three 10" LCD screens without housings and running them from a 3 VGA port card and stretching the SCRIBBLE and VU LEVEL information across the three screens, of course using a seperate computer than mi DAW computer. Any help on this would be appreciated.

So, it's worth to buy a tascam US 2400? I'm planning to buy one but I'm afraid that doesnt work...

the Tascam U S 2400 is a good d A w mixing console it does everything but there are a lot of things it doesn't do as well. the meters on it are around rotary knobs and that kind of sucks to see metering in a true way. there are MIDI alternatives to see your meTersmore accurately which I'm currently working on. I would look into the touch d A w interface for Android and Apple I O S. all the transport functions are there and also the meters panning levels all actually work and report back to the mobile device. I've had my U S 2400 for 6 years but now I'm sure there are probably better options. if all you want is physical touch faders then sure get it. it is a beautiful console and very responsive, but it is heavy it is large and I would actually build the console around it. I wouldn't pay more than 500 dollars for it. after having experience with the control 24 or C 24 I think there a lot more options for button mashing. the Tascam is not very professional is very much for home recording use.

There's no real reason it shouldn't work. Unless it's completely broken.
They're an excellent unit and I enjoyed it for many years until I sold it for space. You know, your needs evolve.

Now, if you buy one that doesn't work for you because of some cryptic application conflict, just sell it. They're a desirable piece of hardware and some parts of the world pay more for them because, although they're not heavy, they're bulky to ship.

Not really. I'm just using the mouse. I started with DAWs that way, no biggie. Maybe again one day.

Does anyone know how to delete the preference files for Logic Pro 9 on OS ML?

I have tried to locate the the file /HD/Users/[yourname]/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs but it does not exist.

I have deleted the us2400.bundle pack and still am having problems with my US2400!

Every time I open a project nothing gets updated! I have to manually set the faders and pans. Once it is manually setup it runs ok but I was expecting it to run smoothly since the damn thing is supposed to run good in logic. No support makes me wanna grab them by the neck and squeeze real hard. Epic fail by tascam. I read how others have got it working but can't fathom why its so difficult to setup on my end. I have tried 1 mackie control with 2 extenders and all i get are flashing lights and tracks that go into solo mode or mute for no reason. So I reinstalled the us2400bundle and switched to native mode...

i have tried every setting in the US2400 and so far the native setting works best. I have all pans, faders, select, mute & Solo. And I can use the play/record etc... But nothing updates on its own. Very frustrating when your trying to gain time not loose it.

Anyone get this working with Logic 9 & Mountain Lion? If So can you provide the steps please?

Too sad - actually my US-2400 doesn't work as it should at all.
The faders don't go along with the logic enviromet, also the select and mute buttons - strange enough, there are several select buttons lighted.
I noticed, that it got really worse, since I updates my novation nocturn software: Automap 4.5.0 - too bad, that I need it to control my EQ's.....

I was wondering if anyone has also considered, using the US-2400 with an old Powerbook or Powermac - on wich it ran great and send the incoming data via midi to the new Intelmac ... anyone with ideas on that?

And of course the other way round: Get the Data back to the US-2400......

I just got my 2400 a month or so ago and I'm using it with Reaper in OSX 10.8. Things seem to work pretty well, but my rotary knobs are totally unresponsive. If I hit the flip button, I can use the faders in their place, but it would be nice to get the knobs to do something. Anyone have a suggestion as to what to try? And yes, updated drivers would be sweet for us all, though I fear it may never happen.

How did you get it working in reaper? I tried scouring this forum but nothing works for me. Someone said to use the cubase mackie emulation mode......

I just picked up a US-2400 and just wanted to share my experience.

I'm using Sonar Producer X3 on Windows 7 64-bit.

Plugged it in, followed the instructions in the manual to put in Mackie control mode for Sonar.

Went into preferences, selected the MIDI in and out devices for the Tascam (not sure if this was necessary). Under Control Surfaces, I simply manually added a new device (Mackie Control) mapped to US-2400 IN and OUT. Followed the same procedure for the other 2 banks (faders 9-24) for Mackie Control XT_1 and _2.

Controller works 100% as far I can see All transport, pan, level, etc. functions work flawlessly. I'm stoked! Glad I didn't grab the BCF2000 initially, although I'm sure that would have been a nice option (and slightly cheaper) as well.

Update:

I did run into a few issues. Basically Banks 2 and 3 would behave similar to Bank 1 (in fact at one point only Bank 2 would reflect Bank 1 while Bank 3 was not responsive at all). Pretty finicky.

The following recommended instructions were provided by another user on the Cakewalk forums. Note that resetting (ie disconnecting the unit) worked but only such that Banks 2 and 3 would be responsive, but they would reflect Bank 1.

1. Make sure everything that, at some time or another, will be used in Sonar is turned on every time prior to opening Sonar.
2. Go to the control Surface setup and remove the Tascam. (ie all three instances Mackie -1, XT-1 and XT-2)
3. Close Sonar
4. Reopen Sonar and re-open the controller setup and add the Tascam back in.
5. Go to the tools menu and open the Tascam and setup the defaults the way you want then click the configure button (I'm at work so I may have described it wrong) then do the three finger salute [shift-function-select], then click configure button again.
6. click ok

For some reason this didn't work the first time. It basically shut off Banks 2 and 3. I repeated Step 5 once again (I think I also went back and removed and added the Control Surfaces in preferences) and Banks 2 and 3 jumped to the neutral position. Adding new channels (9 through 24) now works!

Really, this whole troubleshooting took me maybe an hour at most. I now have more channels than I know what to do with, and far less desk space than before.

I've been using my US2400 since they first came out, through all versions of Sonar (Now on sonar X3d), and a few computer upgrades.
Occasionally, it will lose communication with the DAW but, this is seldom and just wiggling the jog wheel back & forth a couple of times fixes it.
As far as the setup issues you mentioned, I have seen that when first setting it up and, after going through the setup steps a few times, it will suddenly take hold and just work!! In my experience, once you get it going, it just plain works. I love mine.

Tascam us 2400 windows 7 install - Cuabse

Ive got windows 7 64bit and just bought A Tascam US-2400
and it works great on my Cubase 5, i did not try it on my Protools 10HD YET but if it works i will let you know how!

What i did: Hold the SEL button + number 4 + Power button, the number you hold will flash 3 times!

(IF THIS DOESN'T WORK TRY STARTING WITH NUMBER 1 TILL YOU AND UP WITH 6, REMEMBER YOU WILL HAVE TO EXPERIMENT WITH THE MIDI PORTS IN YOUR D.A.W.!)

This will make the TASCAM be recognized by the system.

Then you go to devices in your Cubase and add the MACKIE CONTROL 4 times.
The Tascam is 5 part midi but i couldn't git it to work with 5!

Then you have to experiment with the assignments. this is mine!

but all my faders work, my wheel works, my pan, meter everything i need actually ! The computer only reads it on a different way then XP i guess.

Has anyone ever discovered how to do a full factory reset of the US-2400?

I have been using mine with absolutely no issues on Windows 7 until recently on Mac OSX 10.6 for a friend's project. It worked fine for 4 days and today I have powered it up and fader 18 leaps to the top instead of responding properly.

I switched it back over to my PC and am getting the same issue (in Mackie EMU and Native modes!). Looked at the messages in MIDI-OX and it receiving both the MSB and LSB from it. However when I just assign the control to something it behaves like it is only listening to the LSB.

I can't see why this would be a genuine hardware fault and something that a true reset wouldn't fix. I have tried reinstalling latest firmware and its done nothing. I'm gonna be heart broken if it doesn't start working.

Does anyone have any experience with Tascam tech support?

Like a lot of you guys I'm having a few issues with my US-2400. I seem to solve one issue and then another one crops up. Here's the latest -

For some reason, when my CPU spiked it knocked out the Tascam. So I figured it was a performance issue.

So, I did some googling and came across disabling hyper-threading. Did that, BUT, also notice checked the bios settings and realized I was running on power saving.

Now I've selected it on overclocked and I get no more CPU spikes.

BUT, the problem I have now is, when the comp kicks in sometimes it doesn't pick up the Tascam at all, and it can take a few - maybe 5 time s of re-booting and just hoping it picks it up. Frustration city!

I've just been speaking to a computer geek friend who told me to check the D Ram settings which I'll do tonight.

Any one else got any hints, tips or tricks ? If so email me direct, [email protected], I rarely come on here.

My setting are working perfect when it does work so if any one's running Cubase 7.5 W7 64b I can send you a screen grab of the USB settings if need be. Oh, and you need to select option 5 for Cubase not 4 as someone's pointed out above, otherwise you get what I call " jumping faders " which basically means the whole thing goes haywire when you push a fader.

Pretty sure man it should be Hold the SEL button + number 5 ( not 4 ) + Power button.
