Hard to believe it's been over 12 years since my post a few pages back. Time flies!

I still use Decapitator and Tremolator quite a bit. I would still use PanMan if I had a preference to use panning effects these days.

PrimalTap is my go-to delay tone wise. There's nothing like it, so for me EchoBoy isn't really in use much.

My favorite use case for decapitator is essentially harmonic excitement.

I use the low cut to remove all but the mids and highs. I then distort the mids and highs moderately or heavily, usually with the EMI or Triode settings. I will set the high cut to taste to remove any harshness, then I will dial this back to between 10% and 40% on the mix knob.

This will prevent the low end from turning to mush while adding a lot of crispness or "excitement" if you will. It often feels like a magic trick. Amazing for a 13 year old piece of software!

Just got a chance to play with Goodhertz Tupe, and it comes reasonably close to the Decap's tape and tube settings. Still not as diverse in it's sounds (no answer for the preamp drive settings) but it does have an opto compressor.

I have the Tchad Blake presets and use the "real tight bass" preset on bass all the time. Sometimes I tweak it, sometimes I don't touch a knob, and rarely, it get pulled off the track.

So I'm guessing Decap replaced his Sansamp? Na, doubt it. I use just a touch of his "warm up" preset (about 10-20% wet) on most mix busses as the last effect in the chain, and it helps balance everything like an equalizer. Not sure what it does, but he's the master of parallel distortion so who am I to question?

I can‘t believe that after all these years, Soundtoys still haven‘t updated Decapitator with internal oversampling and filtering to get rid of the aliasing. A distortion plugin should always offer oversampling.

That's pretty much how I view it, too.
