Hi all,

Due to my utter frustration at trying to get these fantastic sounding impulses running in Space Designer, I've gone on a bit of a ridiculous quest to get it done right.

Another user from some forum posted some .SDIR files some time ago, where 80% of the output was coming out of the left channel. ****ing useless. So I paid £30 for Space Designer Manager and converted the 4-channel/B-format impulses into .SDIR files that Space Designer finds palatable, without the bizarre channel imbalance. Seeing as this has left me in somewhat of a manic episode, I have decided to share the finished product with you folks and hopefully spare you the frustration I've just experienced. As a side note, I have only uploaded the 48 kHz versions.

I'm sure a great deal of you will have the original hardware, but for filthy casuals like me this would have been a lifesaver around an hour ago.

If you aren't familiar with the process -

Drag and drop the folder with the .SDIR files into Library/Audio/Impulse Responses

Drag and drop the folders with the .PST presets (all appropriately named and sorted) to /Library/Application Support/Logic/Plug-In Settings/Space Designer

Once this is done, open Space Designer and the presets should be there ready to fire up.

Thank you for this! I made my own Bricasti Space Designer files years ago which I use pretty often in my sessions. However, I just downloaded yours and compared them to mine. Yours definitely sound a bit more more lively and 3D! I forget exactly how I made my files, but I definitely didn’t do it the proper way with Space Designer Manager and the 4-channel impulses. So thank you for making my verbs that much better!

I don't use Space Designer too often. Not sure why. Maybe this will entice some more exploration for me.

You may want to add /Library/Application Support/Logic/Plug-In Settings/Space Designer <-- to your install location instructions.

I added "M7" to the front of each the folder names to differentiate between the stock presets.

How does it sound compared to the hardware?

I have no idea, but it does sound good and is useful. I have verbsuite classics with their bm7 impulses in it, and it was confirmed by wave alchemy that their plugin uses different impulses, so it’s a cool one to have around.

I’ve tried Magic7 and it sounds great, but sadly there is no control for decay, along with many of the other parameters that Space Designer allows you to manipulate. For me, this has been the best way to utilise the impulses that are out there (as a Logic user) aside from forking out for 7th Heaven or the full hardware unit.

True. I got it because sometimes I don’t have my ilok with me and I want the Berliner hall preset, which I love in verbsuite classics. It was free, so it at least gets in the ballpark.

Thanks a lot. Everything worked out fine. For those who do not have 7th heaven or the likes this is very valuable. I have Magic 7 and LS 7th heaven Standard and the Space Designer option is very welcome
