Opcode had that TDM thing where you could use the Digi engine on Digi hardware with their front end. I think that's what you remembering - Studio Vision Pro. But it was still a Digi plugin. Actually, I think before PowerPC and VST, that TDM was really the only platform that supported plugins at all, because the computers really didn't have the processing power to do the real-time audio.
Yup! The DAE engine!
It actually was a pretty good thing... as obviously cpu's weren't up to much real time processing unless had Digi hardware strapped in etc prior to vst and whatnot....
Prior to TDM, they had plugins like DiNR, and whatnot.. but very limited... PTIII hardware (I think initially on nubus), really kinda opened it up for realtime processing...
Granted it depended on how many cards you had and whatnot, and it was cool you could later strap it to your SampleCell cards and whatnot... but it was the beginning of what we are all dealing with now on a "commercial level" for the most part... I remember companies like DUY and yourselves being there earlier then most of the rest... !
