I've posted regarding this previously and to this day I still have not been able to get an answer (even from Antares themselves) on how to have autotune on without such frequent clicks and pops. Many people have said to play around with the tracking knob in the top right but then that messes with how snappy the autotune is, kind of odd because most hiphop songs nowadays crank the autotune without any pops or clicks (or at least very minimal and less noticeable). Surely their tracking hasn't been touched other wise it wouldn't sound remotely as "autotune-y" as it does.

Is it just impossible? I might give up if I am unable to get help here as I've exhausted most of my options and might jus have to live with these clicks.

This should not be an issue with buffer size as I keep it at max, cpu as I use a MacBook Pro 16 gigs memory, 16 core gpu (if that matters). I use the Apollo x6 as well which is a very powerful interface so I don't believe the issue should be gear related.

I've attached an MP3 for reference, the clicks are at 5 secs, bunch at 9 secs. These are only the major clicks but there are a lot of smaller clicks as well which are quite annoying. Most frustrating part is that these clicks are completely random so if i were to send the video again the clicks would be placed in random spots! (Sometimes they are even louder than in this video)

Uad auto tune produce far less artifacts. And I’m usually also use rx de click after auto tune.

Maxing buffer size in 2023 is often a bad move. Certainly on Apple Silicon, but I've experienced this on Intel as well. Try with a 512 sample buffer for a while. This often does depend on the specific driver and the hardware, but always worth to try.

Also, it's vital you decide the click comes from actual buffer underruns, i e when the CPU can't keep up. The latter is not the only source of clicks, so even with CPU cores with a lot of headroom and no spikes you could still experience clicks out of other reasons. Other reasons, which I get that you believe is the case here, but I see little that implies you have been able to rule out CPU related issues.

I'd also suggest to update macOS as a few music related issues were addressed in 13.3. No guarantees, but I had a similar problem getting fixed by this release.

so that may suggest even a UAD running in real time also can glitch.

I'm guessing you are suggesting that it's therefore unlikely that a plug-in version would work reliably regardless of any buffer settings. though the buffer settings would at least need to be tried, for the sake of thourougness.

i tested Auto Tune extensivly. And i was in contact with Antares support. And all versions produce artefacts. UAD the least in my experiance. I still use RX after it.

The recently released Pro X version also loose often the settings in Pro Tools, when u reopen a session. So all over it is a not a very reliable software. But since it is "THE STANDART" im still useing it. I also find that it sound the best in grafic mode for transparent correction.

But Melodyn is so much easier to use

I believe the issues is caused by the "Tracking" knob. Turning it to 0 has always eliminated the problem for me

I want to say changing it from "Modern" to "Classic" is what took the clicks/pops away for me.

Yea but i don't want to turn it to 0, i used to use 100 for like 6 years using Autotune 8.1 and I had no problem. I upgraded to Autotune Pro and Artist and both pop like crazy. There has got to be a fix somewhere

Same. I don’t remember these issues when on AT 8. Now that I’ve been on the newer Pro version, I too get weird clicks and pops randomly. And they aren’t consistent, sometimes they pop in a certain spot, but if I stop and reply that spot, it may go away…until I play it again then it’s back. Really weird. They need to fix this.

I’ve been using Melodyne most of the time, and if I use AT I commit it and then RX out the clicks from the committed file. It’s the best I can think of to do.

Would you recommend Melodyne? Also, do you know if it's possible to buy or download AT 8 nowadays? I see it's discontinued, so that means it's just gone?

I hear you. I'm not saying that that should be the fix, unfortunately that seems to be a cause of the problem. I too miss the days of Autotune 5 on Pro Tools TDM, but Antares is a completely different company now and will never be the same.

The fix, if you can, is to move onto something else. I personally am stuck with whatever the client sends me for mix. Like SDB said, most of the time I'll commit and RX out if I need to. Antares sucks

Just thought I'd bump this thread as I have experienced this behaviour for years now and it's incredibly annoying. Has anyone found any solutions?
