Just upgraded my studio computer to Mac studio - works great

Just curious on how I could keep using my old Mac mini - still works great just was struggling on the large projects.

Could I network them and use as sample library storage vs hard drive - is there any benefits to that?
Use it to run video via sync for media ?

Seems a waste as it (old Mac mini) still have legs and ram for days

Or am I better off putting it out to pasture and having it run overpowered word documents in my home office?

Which model is your old mini? I have the 2012 version (10 years old geez) but actually 2012 is the last version of mini which you can actually open, add more ram and chance hd to fast ssd. This way mine still gets plenty of use at studio for tracking bands, easy 20+ tracks simultaneously (running reaper, rme ufx+). I have the new M1 at home for mixing/videoediting etc and the old one at studio for tracking/playback etc.

Or you can hook it up with your tv/hifisystem to be the most versatile mediaserver (streaming music, web, youtube whatnot). Anyway I'd say keep it for backup machine if nothing else.

Depending on the model you have you may run Audiogridder on it and offload some DSP load from your main machine.
