UAD apollo Twin Duo USB or Apollo Quad firewire
Hey guys,
I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right forum, so if not in the right place feel free to shift this to the right forum.
So I'm in the midst of a big gear purge, and will be going with a much simpler but higher quality set up. So for the record, I was using a Steinberg UR824 with a behringer 8200 for 8 additional inputs. I don't need as many inputs and will be looking at an 8 input set up. I was looking at going the UAD and was originaly looking at the newer apollo cards but being on PC I was told to stay away from the thunderbolt 3 interfaces because they are simply not made for PC and USB, so Right now I'm looking at the Apollo twin Duo USB and the older apollo Quad firewire units.
To get my 8 inputs, I'm wondering which of the two units I should go for? On the one hand the Apollo USB is slightly newer, but with fewer I/O option but I can add something like the UAD 4710d with ADAT to get extra inputs. Or the Apollo Firewire has more I/O but I would have to deal with getting a Firewire PCI card but also and older technology.
what are your thoughts on these? will the preamps and conversion be the same on both units?
thanks for your help
