I had better success with the Universal build than the ARM build for some reason.

Running a M2 ultra here. but really stopped using it since the new M line is so powerful. When the M4 ultra arrives, I think I will permanently delete it. But havent used it in more than a year now I think.

But who knows when there will be some update. My guess is that it will be sold as IP to some party somewhere down the line. And why not, it really helped me in mixing ITB a while ago. I think it can be a commercial product. Even though I love it that it is free(donation)ware.

Possibly, but the rule seems to be that the more powerful computers get, devs always seem to be able to use them to their full potential and squeeze every ounce of power they can.
I for one wouldn't mind paying $50 for a gridder that had regular updates.
It's strange that I seem to be the only one having issues with Sequoia. I get the message stated in my first post regardless of which installer I use... even if the slave computer is unplugged, so that leads me to believe that it's a Sequoia security thing stopping outgoing connections or some crap. There's tons of commercial projects advertised on Gearspace with way older build dates. There aren't many open issues on the Audio Gridder tracker and none I see warranting a more recent update.

There's no indication old boy is selling out (and Audio Gridder has been released as a free open source license so someone could always fork the current version if that was to happen).

Are you set for static ip? That helped me immensely when I was having issues.

Unfortunately it's common for people to assume things about software thinking they cannot have done anything wrong so then it must be the software. Heaven forbid users do stuff unintentionally with consequences.

Sometimes there are real issues and then you make an informed report to the developer in their preferred stated way, in this case discussions at GitHub.

I'd start with the basics myself challenging my beliefs about my setup, making sure step by step I got everything where I think it is.

Unfortunately, many on this forum are extremely sensitive and easily offended, ready to preach from on high with arrogant superiority.
NEVER did I make an assumption about AG or its Dev. If you or others have any reading comprehension whatsoever then it's clear my issue is with SEQUOIA, and that it probably has a security issue with a plugin that hasn't been updated in about two years.
I'll state again that I wouldn't hesitate to spend $50 (or even $200... who cares) on a plug like AG that is updated frequently. Once again, I have nothing but respect for the dev who released a free plugin. I'm still left to assume that this has something to do with Seq and Logic. If you assume it's because I don't know how to properly work a C0mPut3R then that's your problem. Get a damn bottle of warm milk and keep your room temperature IQ to yourselves.

the only time I had trouble with AG the solution was to manually delete some files that weren't deleted when using the uninstall. I can't remember what they were though, this was on a Windows machine as the Slave and a MBP as master.

Do a google search or perhaps ask over at GitHub and see if you can find the necessary files to delete and then re install the latest version.

I actually just started using AudioGridder in my room this week. I'm finishing up a mix now, and there were only a few minor issues—nothing that was a game-stopper.

I created a server out of an old i-7 4th gen Zotac box. I had more than enough processing for my session. I think i hit 30% on the server, and that's using a bunch of the CLA signature plugs, 2 instances of CLA EPIC, and a bunch of just bread and butter plugs.

I should say that I was using MixBus 10 and leveraged the DAWs EQ. I used AudioGridder for Effects, some dynamics, and saturation.

For an open-source project, I found it reliable enough to use in a pro-environment, with the understanding that you may encounter minor issues.

The hard work is configuring the server and understanding the basics of networking. Once when you get that worked out, it just works.

running audio gridder 1.2 on mac - im confused about buffer and sandbox settings

im assuming plugin sandbox is better than chain as then each plugin gets a 'server' instance - wouldnt that put more stress on teh mac acting as the server tho?

also buffers - i mix in logic at 1024 samples - so i currently have AG set to one block +32ms - if im not tracking , will increasing teh buffer size ease the pressure on the server mac ie - should i set it to +1024 for example to match teh logic settings

how some of you guys can add some sense to this for me?

the AG buffer size is on top of you project (logic) buffer size.

the same reason you would use higher buffers natively the computer has more time to process things so you'll get better performance. The downside is the latency which usally isn't an issue when mixing. Not sure how logic deals with automation but that can be a problem if you have very high latency and you're using very tight timing on automation.

Ive successfully connected my 2 computers together to use AudioGridder. I'm using a 10g sonnet to ethernet on both computers, and 1 cable going from one computer to other (ethernet to both the sonnet thunderbolt to ethernet devices) [[I tried a 10g network switch but it is same speed than direct connection, so using the direct connection; I am not good at networks, but got it working by using : 192.168.1.40 255.255.255.0. gateway192.168.1.41 on Mac. pc 192.168.1.41 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.40

Q: My connection (10g) is saying 11ms in audiogridder plugin (plugin on my Mac mixing computer, and the audio grinder server is on the pc) : is 11ms the fastest? I thought it would read 1ms or something.

Anyone help?
i.e. I'm getting with 10gb connection 11ms speed in the audio grinder plugin connection the other computers server audio grinder, and wondering 'surely it should say less than 11ms but maybe more like 1ms?'

you should be able to set your buffers to zero in the Ag settings and then your latency will be the same as your project/interface settings.


i find having a 2x buffer setting in AG gives a nice performance boost and reliable plugin running.


I think of AG as a mixing tool not a tracking tool so I don't need ultra low latency from it.

It's not about speed, but latency.

10Gb networking (optical or wire) has only about 2 nano seconds faster latency than 1Gb networking.

The advantage really comes from having AG on a separate network, so it doesn't have to share traffic with anything or anyone else.

Yea I will use in too not for tracking but mixing; although id like to print off live recordings stems so it would be cool if they all align perfectly.

The only really annoying thing is: I can't use ethernet internet whilst using audio audiogridder ethernet. hymn. it seems like some kind of conflict, and I'm clueless with networking.

I also have ssl sigma, and that too doesn't seem to work ethernet communication whilst using audio grinder. it might be my settings.

I have a pc to run audio grinder server 192.169.1.41 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.40. and thunderbolt to 10gb ethernet adapter on pc; and Mac which is for mixing. Mac mixing machine 192.168.1.40 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.41 - I have no switch but connected the 2 adapters ethernet to each other, so no switch.

But if I plug internet ethernet into the Mac studio's standard ethernet in, suddenly the audio grinder doesn't work.
Im thinking maybe it's the ip needing to be in ranges. Any ideas?

Im an idiot to running separate networks. but my PC and Mac using the sonnet thunderbolt to ethernet 10g solo adapters,, on the pc is shows as a separate network to the standard ethernet port (I would want to use the standard ethernet port on Mac and pc for internet) - strange that audio grinder doesn't want to work communicate if I also have the standard ethernet plugged into internet. I even tried having 169.254.1.x range for audio gridder thinking maybe this would keep it separate from the internet 192.168.1.x range. That is the only knowledge I have about networking lol. I have a 10g with 2.5gb switch but not enough ports for my ethernet stuff (ssl sigma, avid c24 controller, trinnov nova Dante). Also , I found that if I connected the internet to the switch and plugged both the pc and Mac to the switch for 10gb it couldn't get the internet which I was a bit disappointed with. Is there a setting I need to do apart from fixed ip subnet and gateway to get my thunderbolt to ethernet 10gb to my 10gb ports on switch to use the ethernet internet also on the switch?

Seriously this audio grinder is cool - a learning curve to set up though.

Will this be sufficient ?

I got an old copy of VEPro I’m planning on upgrading,

yes that will work as a nice slave machine. You'll need to install you plugins on the slave machine as well obviously so with only 256Gb disk you'll have to bear that in mind if you want to run Samples etc from the slave machine.

Yes, the server HD might be a bit limited for a lot of samples,
but I guess it will be sufficient for my needs ...

What about connecting an external SSD to the server, just for the samples ?
Could that be a solution ?

Yes-that's my setup. Plugins on the Int HD and everything else on Ext SSD. Be mindful of the hubs you use as older ones can slow things down bit.
Actually using my Admin computer as the Server and wouldn't want to run AG w/o a trackball and screen hooked up. I do a ton of tweaking right on the Server comp as my AG window starts to stick a little after being open for more than a few. ymmv
