I got used to an older version on a machine that hadn't been updated in years, but I just installed v3, and trying to make sense of a few things.

Mainly, I'd like to understand how the auto options function.

For instance, on Lookahead, it gives a slider from 0-10ms and an Auto option, but the auto option at least visually doesn't seem to disable the slider, so is it full auto, or is it auto within the range specified by the slider?

After playing around a bit, it appears that the auto button for the knee is doing something along the lines of an automatic knee up to the max specified by the knee knob. Is that correct? (So program dependent knee between 0 and 3 if knee knob set to 3)

That's why I'm wondering if that's the way lookahead auto option works since that's a much tougher thing to measure.

Also, I'd appreciate any insights as to how it determines release within specified range.

Trying to dial in some micro details.

Anybody? I realize the line is a bit long in the tooth, and not as popular as some, but I still find their limiter gives superior results, so hoping to dive in a bit deeper than the manual allows, and get some actual user feedback.

I have been using Flux Pure v3 on many different materials, from singer songwriter to full rock band situations - it seems to be very transparent, able to retain the dynamics (punch and peaks) without squashing or distortion.

I'm mostly on the auto setting. I've never tinkered with manual or expert modes.

Whenever I hear anything weird happening I work on the actual mix or stems instead.

I just got Pure Limiter and have no clue how to use it, so I bring down the threshold until it's loud enough but it's still clipping the meter in Reaper. I thought limiters weren't supposed to clip.

You also need to set the OUTPUT GAIN. Try "-0.5" to see if it will still clip in Reaper.
