Did you compared id 4 and id 14. Converters? In the Audient video id, 14 sounded better then id 22 id 4 was good but just thin sounding no headroom

No, the ID4 is still boxed...need to sell it. I got the ID14 and it's the best I ever had.

Love their stuff, great pres. I don't dig the lack of I/O for the price of the 4. I went with a 44 and haven't looked back. Their stuff is a little steep on the lower end, but you get what you pay for!

I have one question, im planning to buy my new studio monitors, and currently i have Id4 as my interface,
i produce music, and do some other audio related work, in the box, how much id14 DA conversion is better compared to Id4? Does it makes sense to upgrade to Id14 only for better converters if im doing audio work ( so far ) in the box only.

Thank you, or do you recommend other interface with better DA conversion? (rme is out of my budget)

For anyone that might be looking into latency data for the iD4, Audient had a nice post about their v4 major release series drivers. Looks like some major latency reductions for Win 10.

Seeing how sound travels around 1ft per ms, when considering playing guitar through the DAW, 5ms is fine IMO.. even more is workable with no issue.

Unfortunately, this volume issue with the ID4 is a dealbreaker for me. The audio quality is fine for my purposes (just listening), but to ALWAYS have to readjust the volume knob every time my computer goes to sleep is simply too annoying to ignore. Oh well...I guess I'll upgrade my ULN2 to 3D and use that

With the overdrive thing, does that exist in the ID14 too? Or are you just talking about ID22 and 44?

The Audient ID14 has been my number one interface for the past couple of years. The model I have doesn't keep the volume setting, but perhaps later ones do. I doubt it, though.

I've got so used to it that it's no longer an aggravation. As soon as I power up my PC and log onto Reaper and start playing my first track, I just turn up the volume. In fact, I am beginning to like it as I never have to wonder if I'm going to get a sound-blast. It's amazing how quickly you can become accustomed to something like this. It's not a problem for me, but I have read some complaints about it. Good luck!

I just got an Audient iD14, and I am sending it back ASAP. Problems:

1) The firmware update failed several times when I tried to get the thing up and running. I read all the instructions, and followed them to the letter. The Audient did NOT work. Only after doing several google searches and watching a few how-to YouTube videos was I able to get the Audient to work... sort of.

2) After the Audient began to let me hear my music, the left channel started to do something strange that collapsed the stereo field. I would be sitting at my console while attempting to mix, and the left channel seemed to have a mind of its own as to when I would be listening in stereo or not. I switched my cables, channels, and the actual monitor speakers around to see if I could rule out the Audient as the culprit, and I could not. The Audient is the problem.

3) The software user interface is very un-intuitive. It makes no sense.

4) The audient only processes some of the audio in the computer. Ableton can use the Audient as a device to pass audio through, but the computer cannot. What if I have another audio file that's not in Ableton, and I just want to listen through the interface into my monitors? Nope.

Up until now I was under the impression that Audient made really solid and reliable gear. I am extremely disappointed with this product. I should be able to plug in a new device like this and be rolling with no hassle whatsoever. The Audient has been nothing but problems.

That's a lot of problems; no wonder you returned the interface. My experience has been very good with the ID14. I have had interfaces that required a bit less preparation for optimal results, but I'm very impressed with the Audient. Sorry you had so many problems; yours must have been a lemon from manufacturing.

Sounds like a defective unit. Regarding issue #4 , you have to set the Windows audio settings to the same sample rate. Audient isn't the only one with that problem.

Audient ID4 - Am I missing something?

I just got the ID4, but I´m about to send it back for several reasons. Most of all: The Sound. I don´t know if it´s just me not beeing used to the sound of "professional preamps" or if others made the same experience as well?

1) The frequency-spectrum seems quite unbalanced to me. Massive low-end, some high-end and almost no mids.

2) The signal I get sounds compressed, almost squashed. I find it hard to get any dynamic performance (acoustic, clean E-guitar) out of it. I can´t imagine putting a compressor on that or any of the beautiful plugins I bought :-) without it sounding absolutely overproduced.

3) The interface caused Reaper to crash several times. Also the configuration app didn´t install correctly.

It´s a pitty, because in terms of features it has everything I need. Also reading about the unstable drivers on other devices in this price range (Focusrite) made me resignate. Also had a look at Mackies Onyx Producer, but noisefloor seems to be higher? I understand, that for the price there will be no High-End Interface. But is there - in your opinion - a better choice in terms of linear sound and stability?

Sorry to dig out a slightly old thread but I just cannot find pieces of information about audient ID series tech specs.
My problem is I have an ID 14 where channel 1 preamp distorts awfully when the pot passes 1 O Clock let say.

Anyway, even the DI input is not usable, so I talked about my problem to two sound techs (one of them who is a very skillfull audio pro electronician) and after some dialogue and testing, both told me that the problem might come from the physical pot itself. Anyone here already experienced this ?

I am skillfull enough to get to unsolder the pots from the pcb, but before doing so, any advice would be appreciated, and if anyone ever did this before, can they remember the value of the trimpot ? My sound tech suggested it could be somewhere 4,7 kOhm and 5k as he measured with an electronic multimeter both pots resistance, even if they were mounted on the PCB.... So, a 5 KOhm pot. maybe ??
Plus, the potentiometer is much resembling some labelled " Alpha pot 9mm Vertical D " ----->. would it be it ??
So, last question, anyone knows the behaviour of the Pot: Linear (lin) or Logarythmic (log) ??
