the "bose-effect" is something i had noticed with almost all SPL hardware i have used.
like kind of a cold hifi effect on top of the signal.
i don't hear that in the Nvelope hardware.

Yes sir ..only in the plugs. I actually have the Nvelope hardware and I think it's great. I have the TwinTube SPL hardware and haven't noticed that, but I'm not crazy about some of their plugs either.

Seems I'm mainly talking about Elysia's "smaller", "utility" plugs; not the big compressor/EQ beasts. I have the Alpha and MusEQ plugs and haven't noticed it in the short time I've used them, so far.

I simply cannot use Nvelope or Karacter plugs. They have rendered themselves useless to me, unfortunately. Being new to some of these recent "big name" plugs, it seems like they are trying to maybe double-down on brand tone "coloring" too much, while at the same time completely ruining the sound.

I resume this post to say that i've tried many transient shaper and in the end the best for me is Softube transient shaper,cause the Sonnox Envolution is very good but way overpriced and a little tricky,when the Softube one have an honest price and is super easy to set.

Had the original SPL Transient Designer (4ch) a long time ago, which was ok, just not my taste, I didn't need it for my production back then, so I sold it.
As for the hardware "cold hifi sound": I have an SPL Kultube that has that, but I actually like it, as a tone. I'd call it analytical, precise. It's perfect for an eightties type disco sound. Sorry @ Karloff70 you know I'm a sucker for bright and shiny. Never had a Bose system so can't compare. Put a Telefunken ECC83 and Lundahl transformers in there so now it's slick hifi on a dail. Just like the Elysia Mpressor software, which also has a specific tone. It works great on some drum machine parts, but definitively not on everything. The hardware sounds a bit deeper to my ears, but with the same timbre. I also still have an SPL Charisma with two Philips Miniwatt tubes. It also has a specific tone.
That's why there's a variety of gear? Subtle differences. Different tastes. Right?
As a transient shaper plugin, I bought the Schaack one. The demo convinced me, and it doesn't disappoint.

I'm back to say Boz Transgressor 2 is THE daddy. All the others are flapping in the wind. 4 band para EQ each on the transient and sustain tramples all over the competition.

It's either Mr. Boz's Transgressor2 or Oxford Envolution. When I need a bit more control or just transient efx, I'll chose Envolution, and believe me it doesn't flap. But Transgressor2 is often perfect for me.

If I want just basic, fast, cheap, and easy, the NI Transient Master.

I have Envolution (and by now, most of em).
For me It doesn't get more "control" than Transgressor 2 (tilt filters < para EQ).

I see what you mean about efx with Envolution though. Very quick to dial in radical shapes.

For simpIe ones it's stiII Schaack Transient Shaper or MH Transient ControI for the win, and for more specific Boz Transgressor 2.

I prefer the Schaack sIightIy to the MH I think but aIready have the MH and hence not motivated enough to buy the Schaack. MH and Boz = done.

for some reason the shaack always sounded more musical making chunky punchy transients whereas so many make an ear-piercing spike.
