Im building my first custom desktop for music producing. Since im not very computer savvy, i need some guidence...

My goal is a mid-range computer capable of producing, mixing and mastering modern edm tracks. I use alot of vsts/plugins at once, and my current laptop (Acer Aspire V3-574G) is struggling to cope with my projects.

This is what i have thought of:

CPU - Intel Core i5-6600K Skylake
CPU Cooler - Corsair Hydro H75 Series Liquid Cpu Cooler
Motherboard - Asus Rog Maximus VII Hero
RAM - HyperX Fury DDR4 2133MHz 2x8 GB
Case - NZXT H440W New Edition Silent Ultra
Power Supply - Corsair CX 600W PSU
Internet - ASUS PCE-AC56 AC1300 Wireless Adapter
Operating System - Windows 10 Home 64-bit

What do you think? Any improvements i could do? Did i miss completely?

If it were me, I'd go for an i7 (6700k maybe), especially if you're using lots of VSTs, and skip the liquid cooling. I'd also get an HX instead of a CX PSU if going Corsair, as I'm a big believer in high-end 80+. Don't want to skimp on the PSU.

Assuming you've done all your compatibility checks this looks fine. I use Windows Home for web/home/office, but splurge for Pro for DAW use, though I probably don't really need to... I assume your SSD is for the OS? If you can, a 240GB at least would give you more storage headroom. 120GB can fill up awfully fast, even if you port your user directory stuff over...

Your harddrive is WAY too small - 120 gigs won't get you anywhere - I have a 250 GB SSD for my main drive and I deeply regret having bought it because I'm constantly deleting programs and files to free up space ( I also have external drives, but your programs alone and related files will chew up a lot of space over time).

At the very least get 250GB of SSD for your main drive, and even there I recommend 500.

1) make sure your audio interface, your daw and all of your plugins are compatible with Windows 10.

2) google to make sure your audio interface doesn't have any know issues with that motherboard.

3) If I were in your position, building a new rig , I would make sure it has Thunderbolt built into the motherboard because all the better and newer interfaces are heading that way. If you want to upgrade your interface down the road you will definitely not be happy if it involves buying a new motherboard and cpu.
