FET sounds good, but cpu use is substantial.

I'm so overequipped on compressors, and I gassed intensively on new synths recently - just lurking here for all the niceties you guys are exchanging.

It's probably because the upgrade path from the FET Mk I to the Mk II is not showing up properly yet. FET Mk I owners therefor can use the code ICONICFET to get the Mk II for €34 and it appears that the other code is doing the same thing thing on the FET as well (or is anyone who doesn't own the FET Mk I getting that €34 price as well?)

I don't have FET mk1 and it also worked when I wasn't logged in. ICONICFET also works like you say. Though, I haven't tried checking out.

Can these be as good as the Pulsar audio coded Arturia offerings tho....

I'm not sure I need them as much as Softube does.

I suspect these new Softube compressors are very nice, but the sound of the source audio in their Walkthrough video couldn't be worse. Weird.

truth... and a little isolation would have been good... "let's listen to the drums" nope.

also quite the cpu hog compared with something like the purple mc77... and no real difference in sound as far as i can hear, but the new low ratio settings and drive options are nice.

I was stoked to see Paris Monster got the job. Hopefully Softube will post a more helpful breakdown video of the compressors on each instrument etc.

I demoed the Fet and Vca, they sound very nice, loved the HF make up, alas they are too cpu intensive for me. They don't sound/feel that much better than my current comps. Until I upgrade my computer I'm content with Overloud, Black Rooster, Arturia, SSL and Arouser.

I did buy the Chandler Bender the other day. I really like this eq.

I've been following this thread for a while, but this is my first direct interaction.

Thanks to all contributors - the thread has been very helpful. Like many of you, I have purchased a ridiculous amount of plugins that I definitely don't need, only to discover that the money was wasted at a later stage. After discovering Gearspace and following this thread, it's been invaluable in enabling me to make more informed choices about buying new plugins.

I have about 25 PA Plugins, Komplete 13 Ultimate Collector's Edition, IK Multimedia Total Studio MAX, Audio Modeling SWAM Complete Bundle, most Toontrack stuff, Output Complete Bundle, Arturia FX Collection 3 and Pigments, Fabfilter Complete Bundle, all of the latest Izotope stuff except for RX, most Soundtoys stuff, and probably about 400 other plugins (I know, overkill - right? - but I know I'm not alone).

I also have Spectrasonics Keyscape (and RMX). Keyscape is incredible, but it's somewhat of a CPU hog.

So here's my predicament and any advice will be greatly appreciated:

Sample Logic has just released KEY FURY (I already have DRUM FURY 1 and 2) and after watching the 3 videos on the product page, it seems pretty impressive. It's currently on sale at the half price intro offer of $99 and I'm quite tempted to get it:

However, with all of the other stuff I have (NI Komplete 13 Ultimate Collector's Edition, Keyscape, all of the EZKeys packs, Arturia Augmented Piano etc), I'm wondering if it's really worth blowing $99 on. It appears to bring some new stuff to the table, which is my only reason for considering it. I already have a ridiculous amount of plugins as it is, so I recently decided to drastically limit plugin purchases for the time being (but then another new one comes out and the temptation to buy flares up again).

I'd really appreciate any thoughts on Key Fury and whether it would complement my already expansive plugin library, or be another 'surplus to requirements' purchase.

So I am demo'ing Waves Vitamin and I know what everything does and how etc, but the thing that is unclear to me (the manual is no help in this regard) is what the ' harmonic enhancer' part of the plugin does it's thing?

If I set the punch paramater to zero, run a test tone through the thing and I check my analyser every band is adding lower harmonics (ok, the very last, highest band also seems to add some higher harmonics)? Also at what appears to be very low low levels..

I bought it as part of their v collection 9 promotion (v collection 9 + minifreak for $249).

It sounds good but in all honesty I kind of forget I even have it. I went on a vsti buying spree with cherry audio's sale, uhe's sale, and getting vital for free. Then there is everything else in the vcollection to go through.

I'd say skip it for now. There will be other sales and you have other synths you can dig into and learn to use.

Hey thanks for doing this! Yes, I noticed that without punch the upper band creates no upper harmonics but with it engaged it does.

That being said.. I lik the immediate way it allows met to adjust the tone of things regardless of the crossovers not being linear phase so just placing the plugin on a track without any faders up will alter the sound simply by altering the phase.

But that's part of the purpose if you ask me.

I just realized that I bought 3 midi controllers last year and I didn't use the free vst / software offers for any of them. Time to go see if any of them are worth it.

Pigments is way better as far as i can tell, so i haven't bothered with it.

i am sort of contemplating getting the hardware synth that comes with v for free…. or i could update my v collection 4 to 9 and get minifreak for free but in reality it would be $50.

have pigments but haven’t used it yet really

minifreak v is quite immediate and fun + more limited in sounds, designed to be twisted with controllers. has a little sequencer with individual note modulation.
its quite a dirty sounding digital synth and fairly cpu intensive.

which controllers do you have and can recommend?

Novation Launchkey 37 [MK3]

- I wouldn't get the mini unless you were short of space. I bought it because I thought I couldn't make the 37 key novation work in my space but I did. I'm keeping it around as a backup and maybe to use on my treadmill desk with an ipad.

- Impact GXP is a nice keyboard if you don't need pads. Decent synth action, no problem with playability. Has aftertouch. I'm actually thinking about getting the 88 key version. If they made this in a 37 I probably would have purchased it. Part of me wants to buy the 49 key to have a little more room than on my novation.

- I bought the novation because I like 37 keys better than 25 for smaller keyboards, and I had a novation in the past. Maybe I'm just nostalgic but I don't feel the same quality that I did with with their previous keyboards. No aftertouch on the keys, but there is on the keypads.

thanks, the novation looks like it would suit my needs but unfortunately the keyboard shelf ( where i want it ) hasn’t got enough space in height for it. the mini freak, if the measurement is correct should fit but they might not have taken into account the height of the knobs etc. guess i will have to venture out in town at some point….

I know the minimums for vouchers got changed back and this month, from posts here, it seems $25 voucher is $32 minimum, $50 is $75 (I think) and $75 voucher min is $99.

So….this may be old info PA hasn’t updated (either that or if it is new, vouchers could be changing again )…. however…I just happened to look up loyalty vouchers on the PA support page and found this under the part with reasons voucher may not work:
