I was really wondering about the PA and UAD versions of the Vitalizer not nulling out so I started further investigations.
First I looked into the "About" tabs of both plugins. Both were developed by the same developer! However, only the PA version says "Version 1.15" while the UAD Version doesn't announce any version.
Then I looked into the changelog of the PA version.

Especially the fix in Version 1.6.2 ("fixed sound issues") sticks out, other than that there was an oversampling fix (and then there were some general codebase updates which obviously are not supposed to influence the sound).
Finally I did a listening test with vastly exaggerated settings on the master. There I found out that the UAD version seriously lacks midrange! I don't have the OG to compare but I think the UAD version doesn't sound right as the PA version has a rather sweet midrange sound to it, not only boosting the bass like the UAD version does.
I assume that the fix in Version 1.6.2 seriously is affecting the sound and that it never got rolled out to the UAD version. In fact, the UAD release notes only mentions the initial release of the Vitalizer (Version 6.0.0 - September 1, 2011) and no update at all:
https://help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/art...-Release-Notes
Conclusion/ recommendation: Don't buy (or even use your existing license of) the UAD SPL Vitalizer, go with the PA version instead.
It's a shame given the fact how expensive the UAD version is.
