Sweet , so what’s the first few modules one needs to get to get started , for in the ball park of say psychedelic techno ....

Are there things that are mandatory to get cvs out , power supply for just a few modules to begin with how does that work , there’s quite a few bleak videos on YouTube when it comes down to just starting with 2 or 3 modules showing how they are powered etc .... complete noob here

But as a starting sound source , have my eye on the Furthrrrr Generator - Endorphin.es | Modules

I look at that above , and think .... what now , where do you start , and questions like , How do you hook up modular to your interface for further processing in your daw arises and then what on earth are all those other modules on their site , what do they do etc , same goes for make noise and all those weird and wonderful ones from mutable

I have an idea of what sounds I want , I really dig the sound of throwing high resonance into wavefolding , like sine fold waveshaping ,and wana modulate fm for odd and crazy textures a like.

Hexmix and Hexpander, VoicAs MixVert8r MK2 and 2^4^8 VCA MK2 and Vermona twinOUT for recording
DAW and Mackie 1640i (because it has firewire, 6 AUXes and individual send/returns) to bring in retro outboard gear
The weakness is VoicAs MixVert8r MK2 and 2^4^8 VCA MK2 which seem to dull the sound, but maybe thats a matter of improper gain staging

If you have less space then you can get a filter that is also a good VCO. This multimode filter has 4 outputs, also has extra resonance options to push it up to, and far beyond sine wave territory. It goes from being a smooth clean filter to a solid stand alone voice.

I'm new here and I started this post to have some advices.
I need a Pre Master Bus compressor; in your opinion it makes sense to have CVs on everything? Do you think it's superfluous?
Which is the best (high quality) compressor at this stage of the chain?
I have a good budget.

How would you use CV on a master buss compressor?

I have just discovered ACL demo videos on YouTube and now I’m afraid for my bank balance and possibly my marriage if they start arriving in any quantity…. They sound incredible!

Does anyone have any to speak of?

I've been thinking about this for a while, and almost got the wmd mscl. I can think of zero uses for cv control on a compressor,except maybe for sidechaining or strange FX-like processing. But not on an end-of-chain compressor. So i think i'll save my money and get a good outboard one in the long run. Also this way i can use it with other line-level gear as well.

I'm thinking Elysia Qube Xpressor. Not really an analog mojo-style compressor ( i couldn't afford a good one of those anyway) But it is versatile, and can sound clean/transparent when i want it to. 800 euro's, but the ones in eurorack seem to already cost like a third or more of that, and certainly aren't as good.

i tried the Endorphin.es Golden Master, but that's a total no-no. Talk about tonesuck. Ew.

Eurorack is not really the best place to look for compressors - there really aren't that many options and in some ways a lot of them are more functional than "mojo" eg the WMD one is popular as a kind of "safety" for playing live. That might be what you are after though. In general, a rack unit or even software might get you further...

There are lots of non-standard compressors in euroland. I love my Lo-Fi Junkie for drum loops. Then there's Optomix (a real optical circuit) and Streams, both great for side-chaining. Finally, a compressor is just an envelope follower and a VCA, so it's one of the easier "FX" types to patch in euro, especially if you have a polarizer like Blinds or a Doepfer A-133. You can also coax something out of Maths to drive the VCA. Finally, I've got an RNLA on the mains after the mixer on my system that does the job or rounding out the mix for me (until I can afford an API-2500 stereo pair).

There's a few compressors out there in Euro, though I've only experimented with a small handful. That one G-Storm makes is my favorite, though. Again, not an end-of-chain kind of compressor, but it's got a very pleasant squish.
