Depending on settings I've gotten it to clock reasonably well. Just never been able to get it to track v/oct over more than two octaves, and even setting that up is a pain. But making it do its thing in time to other things, that's reasonably do-able.

whoa I have never seen or heard of that synth before,,,so it's hand built 5U stuff similar to dot.com etc...couldn't find a price for the whole big system 55 though..enjoy..!!

Using it to get multiple midi sequences sent from my Mac to the modular gear. I got sick of only being able to run one channel at a time, and love the idea of playing my voyager in poly mode with the eurorack modules.

gotcha so you can send multiple MIDI outs to each new module and then have tons of CV/gate options...cool

All three have a very desirable sound for various electronic music applications.
The KM60 was the mixer used by many classic electronic musicians from the late seventies to mid eighties (Tangerine Dream and others).
The BX8 and BX16 were popular in techno in the nineties (and they still are).
The old CR1604 and 1202 were famous for the high gain TB303 distortion sound. Also some famous electronic and ambient albums were mixed with them (Biosphere Substrata and others)


I used them and they all have their sound design applications and they are still loved by electronic musicians.
In the past, many times I read on various forums people asking when will someone make some KM, BX, CR channel strips in modular format.
So here are the prototypes in euro format and they sound great. They have all the sound that made the originals desirable. Did lots of test to find from where their specific sound comes and there are some tricks that made them behave as they do (especially the KM and BX). They also have the original Mitsubishi and Toshiba chips.
Probably soon will be available on Muff.

Built an FCUK Raging Bull (Taurus Mk1 filter clone) over the weekend. After stupidly reversing the transistors (I used 2N's rather than BC's) and tinkering with the output resistor it's now embedded in my system (replacing the State 700 for now). Sounds pretty good but i'm not sure if it's a keeper.

I also ordered the Elby CMOS (Wasp) filter and another NLC FK1t PCB (after ****ing up the first one - SMD bleh) so I reckon i'll be sorted for filters for a bit. Also got a second FCUK Envelope on the way as well as the Falafular Kik, and probably the MST Dual VCA.

Making music is for suckers - soldering is where it's at!

EDIT: After being a bit underwhelmed by the Raging Bull I decided to have a go at adding a buffer on the output as per some recommendations on the Muffs thread. I decided to attempt a stripboard version of the CGS design, and amazingly I got it to work without too much effort. Not only does it boost the overall volume back to more normal levels but it seems to add a bit of oomph overall.

yeah I thought I'd comment on the build rather on what it does, I have absolutely no clue tbh...

DUSG is more or less the same as MN Maths.
I understood how to use the STS banana version, but imagine I could get confused by the Euro version.

Having been on (off?) the Eurorack wagon for a number of years I finally tired of it, sold off half and sent the rest interstate on long term loan.. only to replace it with a modest amount of (mostly Dotcom) MU.
(I spent a few years using the Euro for pretty complex free-running patches - example here - but these days I like to use the modular as an adjunct to semimodular/fixed gear).

I would like to ask to all the Modular-heads here their opinion on Analogue Solutions Oberkorn/Eurokorn and the Megacity step sequencers. They look like interesting analog sequencers.

I can see how that would be useful, it's quite similar to maths, but like so many of these clever utilities in euro, they are better tools for sound design than music I'm starting to realise..

Taking it into Audio range and using it as an oscillator I like its character.

I noticed one mistake filling my new case, placing the 4MS Shuffling Clock Multiplier next to Rene, Every time i use Rene i get dazzled by SCM, time for another re-shuffle.

A quick A/D envelope or LFO is always useful in music I find.
I use Function - which is similar to maths in every patch.

I was underwhelmed with the Vogue VCF, thus put me off building the Raging bull

On a positive note the Ultra Wave LFO, System X Envelope & Oscillator are Good

I've got a bunch of other FC modules (Envelope, Waverunner, State 700, Trans Europa) and the RB was the first one I didn't like, but adding that buffer has made it one of my favourite filters.

Built the Elby CMOS (Wasp) filter last night. Holy crap what a beast. Sounds WAY wilder than the Doepfer one and that's even without engaging the additional overdrive circuit.

Going to take another swing at the NLC FK1T filter after ****ing up the first go (it's SMD). That might be enough filters for a while, although I might look at building a LPG at one point just the hell, oh and a Serge resonant EQ too.

Hey Fiddlestickz, I know you have a pre-built Elby CMOS...

After trying every way to trim my DIY build I can't seem to get it to have zero audible resonance. Infact at 0 on the res dial it's at self-oscillation(!), then nudging it to 1 or 2 it falls back to a little res (but still squelchy), and then proceeds to increase up to near oscillation at the end of the pots throw.

Is this how yours behaves? I don't mind it but i'm curious, and Laurie is yet to reply.
