because if they sound like the 300 it's the same remark i made for focal or quested : i hear a lot of information , but what to do ? everything seems acceptable on those ...so great to judge the overwall thing but not to good deep in each elemnts...

You say you hear a lot of information, isn't that what you want in a monitor?

Did you think the 0300s were coloured and clouded your judgments?

ps - Also, maybe your recordings are just really good, so the monitors are telling you it's good :D. No? Or maybe your arc system is that good that the only thing you can do is be creative with the mix.

I don't have a perfect room, but sometimes the sounds I mix together have no issues. If you arrange and record well, your monitors might be telling you just that. Many people go looking for problems, rather than hearing them. Just seen that a lot of YouTube

I am a pretty recent PSI A17m owner. Karloff and his PR helped by the way, too, so thanks for that
Imaging (amongst other things) is awesome. Goes from wide and full to pin-point (sounds like a true center), depending on the source. Mids are so detailed and just "there", smooth highs mean I haven't felt fatigued since having them here. Sibilance, transients, compresson issues and eq are presented in the slightest adjustment, but it doesn't rip your eardrum to shreds while doing so.
Take your time to adjust to them when you test them. Relax and wdjust to the smooth quality and they will reveal issues.

There is a big difference in a speaker which just throws a load of info at you, but gives you no inkling what to do with it and one which virtually tells you what to do.

Glad to take some responsibility for you ending up with speakers that make you smile every time you use them. heh Someone on here pushed me hard towards trying the A21's, although I thought I couldn't afford them, and I am very grateful and smile every time I hear them myself, so was/am looking to spread the effect.

Well you have to try in your room. I find them powerful and low enough, though down below 40 there is hardly anything. Down to there everything should be ok, at least in my room, I actually have to notch a little at 72 hz for my room. I work in Post and am glad when I feel mic bumps etc. They don't really feel bass-light.
A21 were just not available at such a bargain at the time

like i said , i'm gonna be able to test those against the focal sm9 the 15 of april , until then i try all other option , i have a friend , teacher and mastering engineer that told me after listening to the 25 that it wasn't some extroadinary , just ok ...(he own atc 100 or 15 can't recall) , good speakers ...lol ....so i'm sending his infos to Karloff for a brain wash ....ahah !! (joking here of course my friends )

i will try to test the 2108 in my room this week end (and maybe call Andy and its 21m also) to try to judge the dynamic on em as well as the high!!

the band stops at 20khz , so if it's start roll off earlier , this might be why they're like super smooth , kinda forgiving on harshness and gives that impression of fulness on the mids .....but only self talking here ...a real test with the help of ARC 2 will tell

What the hell are they doing over there? By design? The 50hz region is a CRUCIAL area for the low end where no amount of rattling should be acceptable in a good pair of monitors. That port design just seems cheap & outdated. I can't believe this is still going on. I was so disappointed with my A7X due to this. Made arrangements to get rid of them right away and never looked back. I liked the ribbons but found the mids buried a bit. For the last yr and a half I've been on the Twins and loving them. Setup is absolutely crucial with them though. Vertical orientation with the EQs tweaked to taste (low boost & a touch of high) evened them out for me. No port noise at any frequency or volume. Quite a big difference in port design vs the Adams. SM9 are my front runner for next upgrade. Boulders are likely overkill for me.

I've heard such good things about the Boulders though. If you have the room & budget I don't imagine you'd have much to complain about with them. No port noise there

first i can't do a side by side test (switch a/b) but what i can tell after calibration : HIGHS are here and here !!

Details : impressed , i mean impressed ...

Medium : they rules some 3 way i tried

Hot : they get super hot damn my 15 m2 room is a dungeon now ...

Natural ?: what can i say so natural that i'm scared to other treat things ...

Strenght : felling of ambience, rooms , space : incredible ...and full

Cons: maybe bass precision versus the s2x and transient response great but not as fast BUT the balance between low and medium +high seems in phase !! weight one tone ....

Also i don't have that sensation of space around each instruments ....reminds me the focal sm9 ...


Build quality : i will die before them maybe ....


Not yet sure about the left right precision , also as they're big i need to push them (volume) to really feel that front to back field while on the s2x at low volume i got it ..the crazy stuff is that i don't feel it and bamm i'm listening loud while it's seems way les that adam (but same spl) strange ...

Love those V2108's!! Warm and voluptious sound. I'd love a pair as 'bigs' if I had spare cash and a bigger room. About time you made friends with the sound of Quested then. Always been one of my favourite monitor brands.

I haven't changed. Like Ivo says in the other thread, Quested is velvet and PSI is like omnidirectional light. I had to choose, so PSI won, no regrets whatsoever. But I would LOVE to have a pair of V2108's or 3208's to go with the PSI, would I have a bigger space and spare cash. That velvet is VERY inspiring.

Might pick up a set of second hand F11's at some point for some small velvet sound. Used to have a pair ages ago. Good little speakers.

Jeezo: yes.. they are bit fatiguing if EQ is overhyped. You should try to balance the room the way, you would not need to use EQ on SX.

Karloff70: me and jeezo are adam guys for years.. and we feel right about that nasty fatiguing sh.t you and Ivo dislike. To us it doesn't sound bad.. but it is exactly what we expect from monitoring.

Jeezo: Yes. There is a problem in low-mid where music is bit blurred when speaker is pushed hard. But it is two way.. so what? I think even the basse.. even the highs.. even the high-mid is outstanding for professional studio monitor. Yes.. they would fix it.. in 10 years I think.

On the adam each sound is super located (thks to transient detection of our ears) ...problem i tend to maybe treat to extrem to make them connect ...

At the same time in the quested , everything is smoothly linked so ' afraid to try to do the oposit (other treat separation) to get that adam feeling ....

Looks like a fair bit of surface right under the speakers to bounce off and a very spaced pair. You must be sitting quite far away.

Yes. All my rooms before was carpeted so I thought this would not work. Actually table is from massive wood that absorbs it all + all corners are bass threated. Actually on table is special carpet too.. so it compensate. I think I understand what you think But this floor is from old vintage wood that actually absorbs very well. I have material to finish the room but it works great that way already.

I get twitchy when people put their speakers so far apart, they don't create one but two sound landscapes, but if you're far away.....

these stands are made from granite.. it's like 70-80 kilo each to stabilize + table is about 100 kilo. Ok, it doesn't mean much.. but surface is stable... Thank you for your ideas + thoughts!

PS: there are sand boxes behind the lower bass traps (the semicircle gray ones) too..

Not questioning the stability of the stands whatsoever. Only curious what it sounds like with them sitting right on the flat surface in front of them, which must reflect the sound back up at you.

Different views on that stuff going round. Michael Stavrou is promoting what you are doing in the Mixing with your Mind book, but most people including myself tend to find the reflections more a hindrance. All depends I suppose, wish I was there to hear it. Curious. Might sound great.

wood is not an absorber , not even vintage wood

Anyway I am surprised too. When I fist seen/listen-to that room I knew it gonna sound ok.. but quite surprised it sounds that huge. Translation to the real world is fabulous (what yesterday "mastered" guy said) and I've found many mistakes in my previous masters. To be honest I don't understand why it sounds that good but it does. I thought my previous room was best I could have but I was wrong.
However there is still little 80hz rumble.. so I have to fix it first before posting any measurements. I run it without sub and its more then enough. Very interested in PSI Karloff.. actually I don't regret S1X.. but I regret i didn't get A21. Do you have A21 or A25?
